dr. leonard muki is the director of the gladstone institute of neurological disease. ning me is dr. delores gal lar gallagher. you get a clear idea of the difficulties and challenges of dementia. i wanted to ask you, first of all, what are some of the stressors for caregivers? >> i think one of the biggest stressors are the changes that keep happening to their loved ones, changes that you don't have control over, changes that are not totally predictable and usually changes going into a negative direction so the person isn't able to do what they could do before they don't remember things, current things. she remembered very well things from her past but currently i'm sure she's quite forgetful. so that's a real stretch for families. but another aspect of it is the families themselves get overburn overburdened. they say, what else is happening? can i cope with it? will i be able to really manage or am i not going to be able to continue in this world? and most families want to continue. so part of what we try to do is help families learn that they have skills within thems
