dr. matthews and commissioners, my name is david hmahan. i'm a teacher the guadalupe school in the crocker excelsior district. we have tried to find a way to work with our principal but are continuously frustrated. we submitted our complaints and letters to you about our principal. the principal was originally placed at our school to fix problems with the principal before her. but she came with her new complaints. she left her former school under unfavorable conditions before she was placed at our school. we bring these complaints only after trying hard for the last few years to fix the problems with our administrator. we've exhausted all the normal avenues. we have now submitted staff's and parents complaints to you. this principal does have some good qualities, but herrin ability to work with staff and families undermines all her good efforts. since she has been principal, we've steadily lost families. she has been offensive and dismissive to several parents . she she's made many families feel unwelcome. we ask you to listen to our appeal

dr. matthew naylor is here. general richard myers is the president of kansas state university. he is a retired four-star general in the u.s. air force and he served as 15th chairman of the joint chiefs of staff. dr. margaret macmillan is a best selling author and professor of history at the university of toronto. dr. michael nyberg is best-selling author in the department of national security and strategy. that is at the u.s. army war college. so we are going to start it out and go to q&a in a little bit. first, we will have some brief opening comments from dr. naylor. matt: good morning. thank you for being here. after world war i was over there was a flurry of activity in the united states where memorials were built in small towns and large cities across the country. we do not know the exact count. maybe as many as 10,000. in kansas city, missouri there was a response that has shaped much of our work. in 1919, in a 10 day period, the city responded to this outpouring of expression by raising $2.5 million in 10 days. that is the equivalent today of $40 million. if fundraising

dr. matthews desmond is raising on the housing crisis in america? one thing that we can do is not think narrowly about the impact of financial services legislation and particularly legislation like h.r. 4790 that can create lasting, unintended consequences if not carefully considered. we should think broadly and realize that the policies that we make for banks can have real impact on the communities they serve and the regulators and experts have done just that. they have carefully considered the bill's provisions and the unintended consequences that could ensue. that is why the blanket carveouts in this bill -- is opposed by former fed chairman and the rule's name sake, paul volcker who has said and i quote, i know from my long experience in banking and savings and loan regulation that plausibly small loopholes can be gamed and exploited with unfortunate consequence, unquote. paul volcker was chairman of the fed during the savings and len crisis which during that time more than 1,000 entities fell, one third of the industry. the exemption is also op

that was matthew morris from the red cross speaking to me from damascus. we can speak now to the independent chemical weapons expert, drwho is in our bristol studio. thank you very much indeed for being with us. as i was saying there are the red cross representative, matthew morris, there has been a pattern of chemical attacks in syria. yes, there has been over a number of years. fortunately, in the last year or so this has not been as significant as some of the period earlier. just about a year ago we had that attack, but there have been some imported political developments. in january president macron of france gathered together quite a high—level meeting of countries, talking about making sure there was no impunity in use of chemical weapons, and promising a more effective response if chemical weapons were used again, so if what has appeared to happen in syria today turns out to be true, this could be very significant. we were just seeing the pictures there, you know, in the hospitals, people try almost to hose down some of these patients, pour water over them and so patients, pour water over them and so on, but cle
