dr. carol miller, she joins us in the studio. thank you for coming in. >> what is it like to see a patient with a strong recovery like that? when you've seen the other end of it? >> amazing. in my 20 years, taking care of patients can leukemia have been amazing. patients like him and others are living testaments to what research, clinical trials and good patient management can do. >> how does it work with a clinical trial? and where chemotherapy is not working? i would think a clinical trial is a brave step. >> it always is. it's amazing how many people are willing to try new things to help not only themselves but others fight diseases like leukemia. it just so happened that right at the time that cord was failing the chemotherapy i started -- i was able to participate in the clinical trial of this new drug called glevac. i was one of 10 centers across the country able to put patients on this trial. he was able to get this new medication. about a year and a half before it was available on the market. he's done wonderfully. he was
