dr. sanjay gupta talked with him and together they chuckled. >> this is always tricky because it's so harddata. but there's some findings that you can't argue. one is that women laugh more than men. we know because scientist robert provine basically eavesdropped on people for a year and found women laugh did two women in a room will laugh twice as much as two men. women are outnumbered in professional comedy by quite a bit. great examples of professional female comedians, amy schumer, tina fey. they're the mean north. what's the disparity? one evolutionary theory, no way to know, you know, where this comes from, but it could be that women are just kind of raised or encouraged to be the audience and men are encouraged to be the joke tellers from an early age. >> for me and everyone else out there, can you become funnier? can you become more humerorous? >> you can. not only -- that's good news -- but better news is, so many benefits from humor come from not being funny but exposed to humor. watching a comedy can make you perform better on things like intelligence tests and insight tests. wat

dr. sanjay gupta live from karachi. what can you tell us what are the developments? >> reporter: just new development just now, another significant explosion. we've just learned from commandos on the ground there was a suicide bomber. one of the militants on the ground on the airport grounds and armored vehicle started to approach that militant and he self-detonated. that was a loud explosion. he died. we know no one in the armored vehicle was injured or killed in that explosion, but it gives you a sense, poppy, still an ongoing situation. remember it started off with these militants trying to gain access to the airport in three separate locations prompting these gunfights and four of the commandos protecting the airport were killed initially. we now know four commandos in addition to six militants have been killed. at least ten people killed. grenades being hurled. there was one airplane, a cargo international airplane, set ablaze. this is a little bit of a distance away, poppy, i should point out from the commercial part of the airport. but the whole airport is on

dr. sanjay gupta. sanjay, you look at these numbers from this report. to all of us, it's a surprisingly low number that's required to get over that threshold to be a heavy drinker. explain how they came to that. >> i think a lot of people are looking in the mirror and saying is that me. this is an interesting study. i'll give you numbers in a second. what they found over a four-year period if they looked at the various reasons people die, about 88,000 people die a year from excessive drinking. if you do the math, that's one out of every ten deaths in the united states somehow related to excessive drinking. that is was sort of the headline there. most of them incident lit are men. what they tried to figure out to your point is what is excessive drinking exactly? what they're categorizing it differently for men and women. but on average, they say men who are drinking 15 drinks a week or more, that's considered heavy or excessive drinking. and for a woman, you can see eight drinks or more a week is considered excessive drinking. that's where that low bar y

dr. sanjay gupta. what do you make of her running this race while pregnant? is that safe?aordinary thing and i would say it's probably not safe for everybody, but we're talking about a well-trained athlete. what is so fascinating, anderson, if you look at the human body, when a woman is pregnant, it will do everything it can, the body will to protect the uterus and baby. it doesn't want to divert blood flow away for anything but you got a woman running and needs blood flow to the arms and legs and why is this person running? she must be running because she's running for her life saving herself and the baby. the body allows blood to go to the arms and legs but again, she's a conditioned athlete. for someone to go start doing this, the body hasn't adjusted to that, it could be a problem. >> this may be a dumb question but is the baby bouncing around during the run? >> yeah, the baby is rocking around in the uterus. the amniotic fluid is a really good cushion and buffer. so the baby will rock around and move around but that part of the whole experience is not unsafe. she was

dr. sanjay gupta is there not far from the airport. he's been following this for us.ou told us earlier that you heard at least one very large explosion? >> reporter: yeah, right. it's about 4 1/2 hours now, this has been going on, the most recent explosion there. we know was a suicide bomber, the most recent militant killed, at least six militants killed. details, again, of the whole well-orchestrated attack are pretty extraordinary. in this situation, the suicide bomber was there, armored vehicle was approaching and he went ahead and self-detonated, killing himself. we understand no one in the armored vehicle was injured or killed. but that is sort of a little bit of the nature of how things have been going. at 11:30 sunday night is when militants tried to enter sort of a cargo private part of the airport. they were cutting through barbed wire over there. and that prompted a gunfight between those militants and commandos who patrol this 24-hour airport. four of the commandos were killed at that time. at least one of the militants. it's just ongoing gunfight. i don't

dr. sanjay gupta is now joining us live from outside the cdc headquarters in atlanta. for those viewers who don't know, how could this possibly happen? >> well, this is -- how do i put it delicately, this is a mess-up. an person or group of people didn't follow protocols. the cdc is being candid about specifically what happened. there are different bio safety labs. there are higher bio safety labs. there are lower bio safety labs. they had this anthrax. they were supposed to deactivate it, wait 48 hours, make sure it had been deactivated, then take it to the lower bio safety lab. it wasn't deactivated properly. they didn't wait long enough to make sure the process worked. the end product is you took live bacteria and you put it into a laboratory that just wasn't designed to be able to handle it and that's where the concern for exposure comes from. >> the number went up today. why did that number go up? what is it now, 87, from 75. >> yeah, you snknow, it's interesting, i was talking to officials about that. it's been quite a process to identify would might have been af
