dr. scott gottlieb, a resident scholar at the american enterprise institute to talk about these headline. dr. gottlieb, talk about the commitment that was made yesterday. what does it entail? >> well, it's a robust commitment. they will send 3,000 troops under the leader ship of the pentagon. the aid relief that we're providing includes enough money for about 17 facilities, they'll each have about 100 beds to treat affected individuals. it's a robust effort. you have to be concerned that we're late to get into this, it's going to take a good amount of time to get the resources into the region, probably most will not be set up until the early part of october. you have to give the administration credit for pulling this together. now one thing to keep in mind is those resources are only going into liberia for the most part. there are other affected countries in that area. i think the administration is hoping that britain and france step up to help those countries, those two nations have historical ties to the region. so far the europeans have not done that. the only robust response has been

dr. scott gottlieb was an early critic of official responses to all of this saying we had to get ahead ofthis and now. he says if the white house is going all-out because there is indeed a risk of this thing not only mutating but maybe going airborne. doctor, very good to have you back with us. >> thanks. neil: i'm wondering maybe all of this is in response to a very well-written column you had not too long ago i think in the journal where you outlined the issues at stake here. are we responding now too late? >> not too late it. certainly is a robust response. you get the sense we're playing catch-up. for example, what we announced today are resources going into the country of liberia, the virus spread well outside that region, we need to consider all of western africa and flood with resources, liberia has been stricken very hard but the other countries need the resources as well. neil: something is off on the math here, when they looked at this as a half a billion-dollar contagion. recalculating what? higher casualty estimates, what? >> the world health organization has done a poor job m

dr. scott gottlieb, resident fellow at american enterprise institute. you laughed at that. i saw you giggle. >> good joke. gerri: we talked about rising prices in health care. the white house denies, it they had a post on their website today talking about how everything is great. take a look at this. right now employers inflation adjusted cost benefit up 1% year-over-year. among the lowest rates slow growth in employer health costs helps businesses create costs and pay a good wage. what do you say, true or false? >> playing games with the numbers. those are the costs of the employer providing coverage. the reason they're not going up as much as you expect, much of the costs are going in higher copays and deductibles. underlying order of health care is going up 6% on the year. it's a matter of time before the employer can't shift costs to consumers and have to absorb it. more employers are getting out of providing coverage. 2012, 61% of employers provided coverage. this year 55%. gerri: big difference. >> the substantial number dropped out of the market. that's skewing the n
