dr. tanzi there were headlines about possible cancer scare for nails. gel nails? >> gel nail polish uses ultraviolet light to cure it. >> anderson: and it lasts longer. >> it lasts two weeks without chipping. the ultraviolet light is also light that can cause skin cancer and aging skin. >> anderson: how many people here do the gel nails? a lot. >> most experts feel that the risk of skin cancer is low with the small amount of light. however it is a good idea to put sunscreen on before you stick your hands in the light or the fingerless gloves are helpful because you avoid the brown spots that can you get. >> anderson: it is ok as long as you put skin lotion on. >> it is ok as long as you are putting sunscreen on. but there is damage tower nail itself. the process to get the nail off is very drying. over time, can you get drying. i think this is a trend that is best done for special occasion not part of the routine. >> anderson: dr. tanzi thank you to have you on. appreciate it. and check out the website for information. fran drescher is here and will join us next.
