of the bjp when it was in the wilderness is it really facilitated the rise of state leaders like dragan. it was less a party of action than a party of regional powers. now, the bjp has changed its makeup, but i think that's one way the congress could go. they have a chance to do that to empower a new group of officials, and they chose really not to do that. so i don't have great hopes. in terms of the vision thing that we talk about, i think here they're really in a dangerous position because what modi has done so well is to really saturate the space, both on the right and on the left in a way. so his notion of the public provision of private goods are really things -- as eswar mentioned, the congress sort of began. all congress can say is, if we were in power, we would do bigger and better, but they can't underscore the premise of those schemes because they were all schemes. i think it's important for congress to target the right and adopt the reforms. so they're stuck. and their stuck in a second way and that is that the whole construct of secularism has become -- >> for the audience
