we spoke to the group in charge of this dragon. more than 80 kids, many of them immigrants, volunteered to walk the dragon along the parade route. in addition, those carrying the dragon must manage more than 20 pounds of weight. >> we've practiced since december, every saturday. we were practicing at treasure island, and for the past two weekends we have been performing at city hall at other chinese new year locations. >> reporter: to prepare for this event police shut down second and market a few hours ago. the intersection marks the beginning of the parade. i want to bring you back out live because we have to show you all of the people here, and we also to have show you what's going on. there's a big float behind us. you can see right here, this one and a half mile parade route heads west on garyy, east on post, then north on kearny street and the finale in china town. visitors can expect 100 floats and 5,000 participants. if you watch the parade out here or on tv keep an eye out for a group consisting of 28 members known for aer
