where the middle school students painted the golden gate bridge, the skyline, the school mascot, a dragon, just finished it last month. voters had approved a bond measure to paint and repair some schools. this one had some old crumbling murals on it. so the painting was under way. a parent and teacher committee decided on what would be paint and how. but apparently they didn't know this particular mural was new. now the district is working with the art teacher and parents to see how they can re-create this mural. >> try to make this right. we want to make sure that the kids understand that their artwork is valued. this is an important community building project, which makes it hurt a little bit. but we're going to turn this into a lesson learned and see if we can continue to engage in the dialogue around how we, you know, create artwork that captures the spirit of the larger school community. >> reporter: there is also another mural of dragons painted inside of a school walkway. that was done by a church group nearby about a year ago. i'm told that that will be spared. it will stay here.
