police followed the vehicle to drexel, 54th street then this area of 63rd and overbrook.was there they say the vehicle would not pull over and circled the block. both unmarked and marked police vehicles surrounded the suspicious vehicle with lights and sirens on. then officers approached on foot. the drivers did not listen to commands to stop and was driving towards those police officers when one of the plainclothes officers from the unmarked vehicle fired four shots at the driver who was hit in the chest. they later found out that that driver was not armed with a gun. now, police transported him to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. police officers have remained out here on the scene. there's still crime scene tape up at this time. this is still very early in this investigation. since this is a fatal shooting that involves police officers there's still a lot of work to be done. we did see numerous detectives walking around the area trying to gather if there was any witness accounts and also getting all of those statements from the police officers involved.
