it's bumper-to-bumper on westbound 580 through the dublin-pleasanton area because of this. ut to chopper 5. they are over the scene of this accident approaching the dublin interchange involving a big rig. it happened around 5:15 a.m. the only thing i can say that's good news is the tow crews are out there. just minor injuries reported with this accident. but the backup is pretty major. look at this. chopper 5 zooms out. we have a sea of brake lights this morning. our sensors are picking up slow traffic as far back as the altamont pas approaching 205 where we begin to see delays. so again, our accident -- the drive time, probably an hour, hour and a half, that's how much longer it will take you to drive from the altamont pass to the dublin interchange. use surface streets, anything you can, to avoid getting in this backup on westbound 580. let's go to our maps. i'll show you what it looks like in terms of our sensors across in area. you can see a huge line of red. i haven't seen it this backed up in a very long time. so again this is the drive too many now, more than 100 minu

the backup going past dublin and pleasanton. a backup here forcing folks to ditch out early into livermore. we saw a considerable amount of traffic. it looks like things have simmered down. people have made alternate plans and settled on the effect they are going to have a long drive. that does keep things on 680 clear heading down towards sunol. we have no more delays. they were able to clear this at vargas without any major incidence. a smooth drive into the south bay. northbound 101, no slowing there. lighter overall for the rest of the bay area. a quick look at the east shore freeway. look at the big spacing between your cars. 50s at the worst. the toll plaza has a backup. it is relatively mild there to the end of the parking lot. back to you. >>> it is 6:23. coming up, anger and an impassioned speech from the president. >> all in all, this was a pretty shameful day for washington. >>> why the president says his battle over gun control is just beginning? ♪ ♪ if loving you is wrong ♪ i don't wanna be right [ record scratch ]
