dufty. >> good evening commissioners. joel dufty, dbi. this permit was obtained for a notice of violation. we received a complaint about the rear studio at the building. we issued two notices of violation and an order of abatement has been issued and posted on the property on december 6, 2012. we generally like to keep this in place and get the work done. it appears that the construction was done many, many years ago because there was no penalty on the violation which we normally said the work was done pre-1960 so i am available for any questions. >> have you received any response from the requester from the notices of violation? >> only that they came in and got their permits to comply with it but i didn't receive anything. they acted on the notice of violation to pull the permit and pay the permit to keep the illegal studio apartment. it's illegal with the studio in the year on the ground floor. >> so you didn't engage in that conversation? >> no, not me personally. if they came to the department but i'm not aware of it. >> it's illegal

i wanted to make a couple of comments and i wanted to ask supervisor dufty and again one point i know there are differences in opinion how to proceed with these issues, but one thing that is very clear i don't think that anyone should question or doubt the motives. i think people here are trying to do the right thing, and we may have disagreements how to do certain things, but i know every supervisor here cares about the comments that were made and certainly cares about people, and i think something else that we're probably all in agreement about is the fact that that i am certainly grateful that supervisor dufty and his office are working with the mta because i know they're going to bring a certain level of respect and understanding to the needs of the folks that are impacted that i think is really important, so supervisor i was just wondering if you could tell us about for folks that find themselves in this situation that they maybe you know living in vehicles that are covered -- i mean what are the things we would like them to know and to do? one gentleman i think rightly noted we

the mayor also talked about his program to address homelessness but i think bevan dufty really covered that better than any of us could and overall the mayor gave a good speech that was well received by our audience. i will skip over my briefing on the single room occupancy grab bar legislation because i think senior and disability action covered that pretty well. what is coming next with the grab bar legislation it will be going before the board of supervisors for their final hearing on february 26 at which time when it passes, and i expect it to pass because it was unanimously approved at the first hearing. after the board of supervisors make their ruling then it would go to the mayor to be signed, and our office will be providing assistance to the department of building inspection, housing inspection services by developing a technical assistance manual to help the sro hotel owners make a grab bar installation that will be truly safe and secure which can be kind of difficult in these older buildings so we want to give them step by step directions how to do it right. for the last two

dufty. >> commissioners, 63 presidio i am familiar with it. i started getting callos it in the middle of last year from the neighbor mr. greenwald, mostly phone calls and more to do probably with tidiness, noise. he was a little concerned about his foundation, stuff like that, so i have been out there about four times. my recent visit i met with the architect to get at the bottom of the complete scope of work and when there are five permits issued on a job -- i mean there is nothing against it. you it do it but if you have a new building you have one big set of plans or pretty much start off, but with these big remodels that we're seeing a lot of in san francisco it's the common practice now to piecemeal the permits maybe to get the permits through because if you submit everything at once maybe it will take a long time to get through planing and building and dpw could take a long time if you show the complete scope of work. a lot of people do it the other way and one to get going and subsequently do revisions. what happens in that process we d

supervisor kim, supervisor yeee, supervisor cohen and supervisor dufty and those are just too name a few. for mercy, these opportunitis are just few and far between. we were talking earlier, barry and i about how many people st. anthony's sees on a regular basis. these 89 affordable housing units and one manager's unit is an unbelievable accomplishment. and the sad thing it's just a drop in the bucket compared to the need we have. i think all of you know that, which is why you are here today. we're blessed to have the leader here today and i wish all your colleagues in congress could be as supportive as you have been over the years so people would understand the need. unfortunately with the situation that we have nationally, the funding for programs like this are really stretched and there is a lot the doubt if we'll see more of this funding in the future. it's phenomenal to have such a champion here today with us to bring that word back to the folks.
