did hit 101 today both at national and dulles, a record high at dulles. we're down to 84 downtown, 79 gaithersburg, 77 frederick, 81 in leesburg. we'll come back and talk about the prospect of more storm overnight and we're not done with storms after today, nope. more storms on the way later in the week. we'll tell you how strong they'll be. >>> here's an example, a lightning strike setting a house on fire in kensington. it happened on devin place when storms moved through this afternoon. we talked with the homeowner who describes in vivid detail what happened. >> lightning struck this tree out here and the branch fell down. i came out to look at that and heard somebody scream. it was my daughter. i looked over here on the side and some paneling was down off the side of the house in back there and i thought i smelled smoke. i called 911. about 15 firemen came in looked through everything assuring me that we were fine. i'm still smelling smoke and was thinking about calling and i looked out the window and saw the fire engine come back down. so i go outside

reagan national 100 did he, dulles 98, bwi -- degrees, dulles 98, bwi marshall up to 99 degrees, still toasty out there this evening, temperatures holding up to 92 degrees. that's the warm spot. of course, it generally is this time of year with the heat island effect of the city and the concrete holding the heat from today. look at the heat index even at 10:00 at night, still feels like 96 degrees, quantico 100, feels a little cooler in fredericksburg with a temperature of 88 degrees. now listen, in anticipation of saturday and we were talking about this, we've been talking about it the last couple days or so, a heat index of 110 to 115 degrees has already been issued for the area. i don't know why it's not popping up right there, but just keep that in mind. i think tomorrow's heat index is probably going to be 100 to 105. they haven't issued it yet, but i'm just about sure they'll issue a heat advisory around here for tomorrow. it does get cooler. we can see the light at the end

they had over an inch of rain earlier today. 70 at dulles.us, this is where the warmer air is located. mid-60 in caribou. not much of a difference to what we have right now. although rain moving off of the coast. a little bit of fog will develop during the early morning hours. it should be out of here by 8:00 in the morning and that our skies should clear but do not expect a lot of sunshine. doppler radar is showing quiet conditions right now. r futurecast will take us through the overnight hours is temperatures fall. another couple of degrees but tomorrow highs in the mid-80's. a few breaks in the cost to the west of us so we will see more sunshine and then monday daytime highs will start to warm back to near 90 degrees. even hotter on tuesday. a patchy drizzle for tonight. 65-73. for tomorrow, we will see temperatures on the higher end. more clouds and a little bit cooler. the extended outlook will call for highs into the middle 90's on tuesday. around 100 degrees and then lower 90's's on wednesday. so far this year, 90 degrees or better 18
