back between bel grave and dundalk avenue. loganview shopping center, you can't get in and out of that. that has been evacuated as are the neighborhoods south of there. ramps to and from the beltway is closed. so you can't get through there. sowers point road, as you just saw, from captain mike perry's shot earlier, it is closed between avon beach road and dundalk avenue. now, it is also extremely backed up as captain mike perry mentioned, getting in there. but the problem is, these aren't going anywhere. because there is no access into turner station right now. they are going to be sitting there. as far as the people in these homes, you can see the flooding. police are trying to evacuate them at this point. they actually have set up a shelter, we're told, at 7401 halliburton avenue at the senior center. do watch for that. do not drive in the water if you near that area. and you are, in fact, incounterring a road that hasn't been block -- encountering a road that hasn't been blocked. and we don't want to make a rusty situation

you are live in dundalk. what's the latest. >> reporter: well, the latest is that county executive jim smith is expected to be here this morning. he is going to survey the area and at eight is going to have a press conference giving updates on what they are doing to clean up this area. as you mentioned, yesterday, shortly after 4:30 when water main broke, about 800 homes and businesses were in the dark. cars were submerged under water and some people were trapped in their home. this is video which was taken yesterday from skyeye chopper 13. aid different story this morning. the crews worked overtime to clean up the mess and the debris. this 6-foot wide break broke -- break washed away parts of broening highway and where the break is up the cleanup is a different picture. power seems to be restored to many of the homes and the water recede although about 100 homes have experienced some basement damage due to flooding. baltimore county police are patrolling the area and some roads are still blocked due to traff

came through dundalk avenue and continued to roll. lots of water. there were people in the shopping center. a lot of cars had to come out. there were some cars, we were been told, at one point, the water was up to at least the bottom of the door well and going inside of the cars. in some of the neighborhoods, as well, that's where it is. that part sits lower. if you can look at the topography of the land you can see where the water is. it is making a gradual slope down. housing are behind the shopping center where people have been affected. they have had water come in their basementand on to the first floor. we have been keeping an eye on this. the streets are narrow. there are a lot of cars and traffic. people have been trying to get in and out. it has been incredible to see. anybody trying to travel down this area you might as well forget it. dundalk avenue is blocked off from bell claire back to this way. there is no way to get through. it is causing problems trying to route traffic around as people want to come by and look. most people have been

dundalk avenue is cleared up.orking on the logan village shopping center and the side streets here. bge is concerned about possible damage to some of the homes because of the amount of water in the basement. they did have a few transformers they ended up replacing down here. they have street sweeps doing their thing. pretty much all in all they're aggressively working to clean this up. we noticed two separate private cracke contractors to come in and work on the disaster cleanup in logan village. one of the issues with the fire department is that some of the homes that are not occupied, their basements are flooded and have to get the place there send make a forced entry into the home to try and pump out the water in the basements of the home. if you pump out the basement to one and next-door you haven't done that one, the water will seep from one to the other. you will have an issue. >> captain roy. a quick question for you. as we watch them cleanup the roads and all the muck and mud and debris, have you been able

that is true with the situation in dundalk. baltimore county officials are shooting down claims made by scam artists who say they've been ordered to come in and handle the clean-up. the county says that is not the case. the better business bureau warns similar scams will likely circulate so you've got to arm yourself with information before starting your repairs. otherwise you could pay the price. >> could be shoddy work, work that doesn't last, work that doesn't add dollar value to your home improvements could actually exacerbate the situation so it's all about the money. >> the better business bureau advises that before you pick a contractor and sign a contract find out what your insurance will cover, get multiple quotes in writing and make sure the company you choose is licensed with the maryland home improvement commission. >>> governor martin o'malley has granted authority to the maryland attorney general's office to investigate the activist group acorn. this comes after the release of undercover videos including one shot
