i'm joined by john bartunick, elizabeth from duquesne university italian campus and greg burke. great to have all of you here. thank you so much. so secret meetings, locked doors. what are they really talking about and with whom during this conclave process? >> at this point i think they are praying yesterday was a big change, a huge demarkation, a line in the sand until up until now they had the general congregations, all of the time they wanted to talk. 100 cardinals getting up and giving their speeches in front of everybody else. yesterday you had the mass in the morning and in the afternoon for the first vote. at this point i tell people it's like a retreat. catholics make retreats, some last three, five, some go on month-long retreats. it's as if the catholic church were on retreat and especially these cardinals, shut away, praying. >> but they are talking? >> there will be talking. there's talk at lunch, talk at dinner. but obviously we can't be in there. the key is second, third vote because you see who has big chunks and whether or not they are going or stopping at 30 or

i'm joined now by elizabeth lev, professor of christian art and symbolism at duquesne university's italianpus. it's good to see you. >> it's great to be here. what an exciting time. >> we were talking earlier in the program about how all of the cardinals were out in their little parishes. and when cardinal dolan from new york was going in, there were two little italian women who waved at him and he said do you think i could have some pasta coming out of mass? sure enough, after mass he went up into their apartment and had a little pasta. this is a different kind of start to a conclave. >> i don't know, i said when in rome, do like the romans. it was sunday afternoon, it's time for pasta. conclaves have always had a different feel to them but this one is so -- we don't have the mourning for a lost pope, we have this excitement for a new pope. that curtain open, that expectation. now that we have that curtain there, you're just waiting for that face to come out. it's thrilling. >> we've got a little time between now and then, although we'll talk a little later about how long you think that's

, shoul she had a sportsr both at duquesne and then fulfilled a dream of hers to be a coach. on a roadtrip, there was a terrible, terrible accident on the pennsylvania turnpike. the bus went off, and she was obviously sitting in a place where she was -- she received one of the first impacts. she was only 30 years old. she had been recently married -- well, not recently married. she had been married. she has another child, and she was six months' pregnant -- in her pregnancy, and that of the un-- the unborn was also terminated. this is really sad. there were many who were injured on this bus. several were from maryland who were also members of the team and the assistant coach is also from maryland. the assistant coach, kristin santafalopi, is also from maryland. this happened in cumberland county. we're now waiting the details. but it is a very sad day that this promising young woman with the world ahead of her, who by all accounts was not only an athlete and who could teach athletics but that she was an inspirational leader that girls -- you know, they're young women -- just
