lots of comfortment there is a raleigh-durham skycam. there is high cloud cover coming in and the temperature trend started off out at rdu. we got up to 78. that was the official high and compute ares saying 77. the real high was 78 occurring at 8:00. if you are right along the water, youton to be a little bit cooler than if you were farther inland. boone, 64. 70 in asheville. high, thin cloud cover coming in from the west. not the mostly cloudy skies we had last night. here is the big picture. big storms off to the west. we have a big area of low pressure in the upper atmosphere. we have a rim of high pressure and that is not going anywhere until perhaps the weekend where it will weaken a bit and we want to venture out into the pacific ocean because there is a big plume of moisture coming in from hawaii. what you see this, it is sometimes referred to as the pineapple express. this is headed straight to the west coast. we have another upper level low here. all of this will be going to the south and east and more storms in the pacific. li

there is our durham skycam. what i walked in this morning, skies were totally clear. we had beautiful stars, pretty little crescent moon and already, it is really clouding up in the western part of our viewing area. you can see the gray skies there in durham this morning. it is 29 degrees. a northeast wind at 3 miles per hour so if you have a meteorological brain, you may say wait a minute, it is 29, clouding up. what is the chance that we'll get something frozen out of these clouds that are approaching. the answer is the chance is not great. the chance isn't zero but it is not great. we'll talk about that over the next couple of minutes. the dew point is 19, very dry at the moment and quite cold, 27 in south hill. 28 in roanoke rapids. 29 in chapel hill. it is 32 in smithfield. 30 in southern pines and 32 in fayetteville. almost everybody below freezing. we had the cold air come in yesterday behind the front that brought us the rain for yesterday morning. an here comes another one. this is a fairly active pattern that we are in right now. we'll see this system for to
