dwayne jackson says his brush with terrorism back in may of 2010 taught him it makes sense to get involved. now, he is seeking the democratic nomination to represent his home district in congress. >>> well tonight, prince georges county police want to know if two officers made up their side of the story after a shooting. >> i'm scott broom in brentwood, where the surveillance video does not line up with the report the officers gave after the incident friday night. the lowest price gas station and convenience store. on rhode island avenue at brentwood. an officer fired a shot with two suspected robbers, including 19-year-old ryan keith dorm, a convicted felon who was arrested that night and accused of trying to grab an officer's gun. no one was hit by the shot that was fired, but the confrontation was caught on surveillance video, which apparently tells a very different story. >> we have given that video. we presented that to the state's attorney office and they are reviewing it. i don't want to affect, that is a criminal information. i don't want to affect that at this time. >> one of the

wants to take his street smarts to washington. >> welcome to times square. >> reporter: mean dwayne jackson vendor in times square who alerted police to a car bomb in may of 2010. it belonged to the man serving life in prison for the foiled attempt. jackson won honoring for his action, but now wants to make a name for himself in politics. >> in 2010, this car was filled with explosives parked in back of me, and certainly had it going on. >> and two years later, i decided to run for the congress of the united states. >> how did that attempted car bombing here in times square change your life? >> well, you know, certainly when i walked up to the vehicle, i didn't know the contents. when i looked back at it, how can i make a difference? that difference started that night. >> reporter: why the inspiration may have been sparked then, partisan politics driving him now. the former city planner says he knows a thing or two about people being in the cross roads of the world. >> just being joe citizen. i hate to knock lawyers, and i hope to certainly work with some of them. >> reporter: jackson plans

dwayne jackson, welcome back to the couch.ted your opponent on, a congresswoman, she's declined to be here. glad to see you again, dwayne. >> glad to be back. >> that incident we'll never forget. for you, it changed you. why? >> basically it kind of started when i received a phone call from president obama. i went to this f.b.i. citizens academy class and part of the class was talking about how can you joe citizen make a difference in your community? the more i thought about that and went forward in my life, i had to take a close look and say wait a minute, you know, she's not representative of our district. this is something that maybe i can be a part of to change that and basically decided to throw my hat in the ring. >> uh-huh. you were one of the guys who made sure that thing didn't blow up. and, you know, hundreds of people, it's been estimated. could have been killed with that. if you were elected to congress, do you want to be involved in terrorism? >> well, i'll tell you, absolutely, i would love to be on the homeland
