joining me live is sergeant dwyer with the san jose police department.hat do we know about the two people shot and killed? >> officers located a house they believed to be involved. they entered to conduct a sweep, make sure everybody was okay and unfortunately they did find two persons suffering from gunshot wounds. one an adult male, one adult female. both pronounced deceased. we don't have suspect information. we're conducting a search of the area to make sure the suspect is gone, make sure everybody is safe and the crime scene unit will process the scene. >> on my way over i noticed police around the perimeter blocks away from here so that should the public be worried at this point? >> again, we don't have specific indications that the suspect is present. if we do have a fresh crime and it's violent in this case two people are dead we have to entertain the possibility that he or she may be here so we have to conduct a search, and once we have established that more than likely the suspect is gone we'll break down the perimeter and process the crime sce

i'm diane dwyer. tonight we're learning more about a stabbing at a house party that sent alden smith to the hospital. jody hernandez is in the neighborhood where it happened in the hills of east san jose. hello, jody. >> reporter: hi, diane. crime scene investigators are still up at the home of that 49ers player. we're told that the party last night was so large that the cars of party-goers were actually lined uch down this road. tonight the only car packed out here is that of a sheriff's deputy keeping folks out as investigators try to figure out why the party turned violent. >> well, about 2:00 in the morning, i heard a series of rapid gunshot and then a little while after that lots of police activity. lots. >> that's how neighbors describe what happened early this morning when a party hosted at the home of san francisco 49er linebacker alden smith turned violent. the santa clara county sheriff's department said they got a 911 call just after 2:00 this morning. when they arrived, they found two men

. >>> good evening, i'm diane dwyer. the 49ers confirm a star player was stabbed during a party last night but he's expected to recover from his injuries. the incident happened here at a house on higuera highland lane in a house in east san jose. this as close as the crew could get to the scene. the sheriff's department has set up a barricade as detectives continue to investigate. someone heard gunshots coming from the home and called 911. the deputies found two people with gunshot wounds there and 49ers linebacker alden smith suffering from stab wounds. >> about 2:00 in the morning, somewhere in there, heard a series of rapid gunshots. and then a little while after that, lots of police activity. lots. >> paramedics took all three victims to the hospital. they are expected to survive. as for smith, the general manager of the 49ers describes his injuries as minor. in a statement, he said, quote, we are in contact with aldon and thankful that his injuries were not more serious and that he is recovering comfortably. so far
