here is nbc meteorologist dylan dreyer. dylan, how's it look out there? >> good morning.ngs are quiet across most of the country. that goes from the west coast as well from seattle into l.a. but in seattle, it's almost too quiet because we're seeing air stagnation alerts up that way which i'll show you in just a second. but high temperatures today look pretty seasonable. about 40 in seattle. 43 in portland, oregon, and 45 in medford, oregon. then you head a little further to the south, 82 degrees in los angeles with nothing but sunshine. the problem, though, is that we have this easterly component to the wind. and that's a very dry wind. and because of that, we do have red flag warnings in effect in and around los angeles. winds could gust up to about 35 to 45 miles per hour with those santa ana winds. humidity is down 5 to 15%. with highs in the lower 80s, it is certainly going to make things not ideal down in that area. we also have air stagnation alerts in the pacific northwest because winds are so light, that creates some low-level solution, and there could be some bu

dylan dreyer has all those details. hi, dylan. >>> good morning, alex. it is going to be a rough go for everyone traveling across the country. we have snow, ice, record high temperatures and also some severe storms possible, especially down across the southeast. new orleans, 70 degrees right now. we are closer to zero through the northern plains. a huge contrast in temperatures is going to fire off these huge storms. you can see the heaviest rain in southern illinois, southern indiana. but the pink is the ice. that's where we will see most of our problems. we have accumulating ice across the plains. as the colder air works in where the accumulating ice is right now, we will see a few inches of snow on top of that. parts of kansas should end up with three to six inches of snow. up in northern parts of michigan we could end up with 6 to 12 inches of snow. closer look shows you from peoria, oklahoma city, the ice is coming downment and it has been accumulating. we could end up with half an inch of ice, programs an inch in some of the heavier downpours of ra

dylan dryer is watching from east rutherford, new jersey, tonight. kind of the calm before the storm. dylan, good evening. >> reporter: good evening, brian. it certainly is. it's the timing of the storm that's going to affect so many people across the northeast on tuesday. now, right now it doesn't look like all that much. we have snow coming down through wisconsin into illinois. the whole great lakes region will see about one to five inches of snow. in the northeast we should see a widespread two to four inches. about five or six to the north and west of new york city. even as much as 6 to 12 inches through central and northern new england. by 5:00 tomorrow morning we should see the snow in the tri-state area. it will continually get heavier through mid-morning. and then it moves up into new england. it will be heiest around mid-afternoon really affecting the evening commute up that way. so, again, it's not a block buster storm. we'll see enough snow to make the roads pretty awful for commuters on tuesday. brian? >> dylan dreyer from the east ruther
