now we bring in nbc meteorologist dylan dreyer. just in case you're wondering, not every sweater at goodwill is -- >> that's good to know. another interesting story coming off the shores of lake michigan. we have ice boulders showing up on the shores. take a look at that. looks like a totally change, alien concept here, but it's actually pretty normal. it's when the sheets of ice break off on the frozen lake michigan and then get tossed around in president wthe waves rolled over and turn into these ice bolders. the dogs like them too. we are going to see a little bit of snow around the great lakes. nuisance snow over the course of the next couple days. that includes the weekend. little more intense through central and northern new england, especially over the weekend where we could end up with about 3 to 6 inches of snowfall. we're also focusing on this huge dip in the jet stream. yes, it's march, but cold, cold air is surging into areas in the southeast. normal high temperatures are in the 60s and 70s. atlanta today will only top

dylan dreyer is here with the forecast. >> good morning, everyone. a rainy day up and down the eastern seaboard yesterday. we are going to see improvements today. that cold front also taking the warm air with it. yeah, it was raining yesterday but warm. now it is going to cool off as the sunshine returns. it's pretty chilly across the great lakes too where we have snow showers. they're pretty light but they're numerous extending across most of michigan, stretching down into parts of illinois and indiana over into ohio, too. best chance of accumulating snow will be later this afternoon in the higher elevations across west virginia where we could end up with 1 to 3 inches. other than that, the weather is quiet but we are going to talk about the cold air, single digits and teens across the northern plains and this big dip in the jet stream will drag in cool air for the rest of this week even into the weekend, as well. 30 today in minneapolis. 50 today in boston. watch what happens tomorrow. that colder air starts to move in. 49 in chicago, we should top

nbc meteorologist dylan dreyer is here with more. good morning, dylan. >> good morning, alex. yes, winter does not want to come to an end. we've got snow up across the great lakes, and that is trying to move eastward. although it will fizzle out a lot as it does so. we do have very, very cold temperatures well down into the single digits up across the northern plains. 21 in minneapolis right now. but that snow that's moving through michigan, and about to move onshore in the west coast of new york state and also northwestern pennsylvania, that is where we are going to see accumulating snow, although not that much of it. this is a very fast-moving system. it is diving down into the mid-atlantic region. it looks like we'll just pick up about an inch to three inches, western michigan could end up with closer to about three to six just because that's where we have had some heavier snowfall reports. and then that snow that fills in across minnesota. that's the next storm that's going to start moving in by early next week. and it does look like mostly a rainstorm for areas along the

dylan dreyer is here with more. good morning. >> good morning. as one storm pulls away in the northeast, we're watching another storm pummel the minute west and it will bring some snow to some areas. it's also going to bring some severe weather. look at how warm it is down across texas right now into the mid-60s. it is going to warm up significantly later on today. that's going to help spark some very strong storms, especially across central texas. so, we'll watch out for the potential for hail and lightning and strong gusty winds as well. we'll see strong winds across western nebraska. because of that we do have blizzard warnings already posted and several winter storm warnings and advisories up and down areas like the rockies and up into minnesota as well. you can see that's where the snow is falling. also an icing situation across portions of northeastern south dakota, across central minnesota and through central and northern wisconsin. that is going to be an area that is going to be very treacherous for driving later on today. as for snowfall

for the rest of the country we check in with nbc meteorology dylan dreyer. >> the northwest is seeing well above average temperature and northeast seeing near average temperatures. it took a while but it's finally here. it's already 51 in new york city and 49 in seattle. we have some rain in the middle of the country that will keep things cooler out that way. look at the high temperatures, not too bad, mid to upper 50s but out in the northwest, that's where temperatures will be about 15 to almost 20 degrees above average. we should even top out in the mid 90s in parts of oregon. i have a lot of family out there so i'm jealous of the temperatures they are enjoying. for easter sunday it looks just as warm. we'll see rain more into wisconsin and the biggest threat will be for hail down through the tennessee river valley into the gulf coast today and eventually tomorrow as well. today we are going to see light rain around wisconsin and heavier rain through tennessee and oklahoma and parts of arkansas of the then for easter sunday, we're going to see that rain try to move eastward but it d
