dylan dreyer, meteorologist from nbc joins us right now. they store those things outside. that's always a risk. >> there's no cover. that's going to cause a lot of damage. our best chance of storms today is going to be in the pacific northwest, especially interior pacific northwest. right now, though, most of the country is pretty quiet. a couple heavier downpours, but those should fizzle out eastward. closer look at the west coast, things quiet down in the morning, but we'll see more heavier rain into this afternoon, and it's this area over spokane into northeastern oregon and northwestern idaho where we could end up with large hail and damaging wind gusts, but keep in mind part of this region is dry because of recent wildfires, so if we get those heavier downpours, we could end up seeing flash flooding. because of that, we have watches in effect for parts of the interior northwest and parts of nevada, could see flooding there, as well. that's the bluff, california, sacramento looks nice, lots of sun with a high of 87. >>> it's not a typical area where you see severe weat

let's get the latest on this with nbc meteorologist dylan dreyer. it seems lake fall's coming in in a very wet way. >> these storms are typical but not this early in the season. usually it takes another month or two. but we are certainly seeing one of the strongest wind storms in september for that region. you can see that's really all that's going on across the country with heavy rain still falling from seattle all the way into northwestern california. and now that rain is starting to push eastward. so the worst is over, but we had several inches of rain and wind gusts already reported up around 75 miles per hour at times this weekend. we are still looking at the threat of strong winds this morning, but we are going to see some improvements. the wind advisories and warnings will ease throughout the course of the morning, and we're looking at more or less just 40 to 50-mile-per-hour winds throughout the rest of the day. and then it transitions from the heavy rain over to a regular rainy forecast with off and on showers lasting in the seattle area at

dylan dreyer what do we have on tap for the last day of september?> you know, not so good in the pacific northwest. this is a typical storm system that happens in the winter out in washington and oregon. to get this in september, this could be the strongest wind storm this area has seen in september. we're looking at another additional 2 to 3 inches of rain, especially from seattle right down into parts of portland and the coast of oregon. but it's the wind on top of that. up until about 5:00 a.m. pacific time, there's the chance we could end up still in the highest elevations of wind gusts up to 80 miles per hour. in the lower elevations, wind gusts up near 60 miles per hour. elsewhere across the country, it's actually a really nice day. we're going to see a lot of sunshine up and down the east coast. 72 in new york city. hot and humid in the south with a couple of gulf coast thunderstorms today. and again tomorrow, looks pretty quiet as well with a few thunderstorms down south. and rain in seattle will turn more into regular rain that they get this

meteorologist dylan dreyer has the answers. good afternoon now. >> good afternoon to you too, alex.arly for snow. other parts of wyoming in the higher elevations picked up 8 to 10 inches of the white stuff. oh enough with that. that's going to melt away. now we're talking about a lot of rain. there's this cold front moving through the center of the country dividing the country in half out ahead of it. it's nice and mild in the 70s and even some 80s through texas. but back behind it, it's only 53 degrees right now in denver. it will start to warm up though especially since we'll see more sunshine through the rockies throughout the day today and the entire weekend. but right where that cold front is from basically just through eastern iowa stretching down into northern texas, that's where we have a line of heavier downpo downpours. we could see flash flooding with thunderstorms that develop there, maybe some hail, as well. it's the pacific northwest where we see a huge storm system. it is going to produce a lot of rain and a lot of wind over the course of the weekend. in fact, some ar
