for more, we're joined by meteorologist dylan dreyer. hi dylan. >> hi, kate.t of the rain we've seen today has been fall ago cross louisiana where we have reports of three to six inches of rain. you can see the heaviest is now through new orleans, and it will continue to mauve into mississippi and eventually alabama. that's where we have our flash flood watches still in parts of west central louisiana, we do have flash flood warnings right now. and also coastal flood warnings at the time of high tide this evening. watch as the moisture continues to stream through parts of the gulf coast and eventually by tuesday extends all the way up into st. louis and southern illinois and southern indiana. that's where we'll see some of the heavier rain as we continue through this week. but in the meantime, still another two to up to five inches of rain possible across mississippi. the western panhandle of florida could end up with close to six or seven inches of rain with some of those heavier tropical downpours. now, as we go into wednesday and thursday, we'll start to se

." >> i'm craig melvin alongside dylan dreyer and sheinelle jones. the peace rally outside turkey today. the nbc chief correspondent richard engel is in istanbul. richard, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. this was an absolutely an troesh yus event. students and peace activists gathering in ankara this morning to gather for the peace demonstration. a low level conflict going on with the turkish government. these people were coming to say that fighting needs to end. the country needs to pull together and as the crowds were growing, witnesses say two explosions went off. one can be seen while people dancing in the foreground. more than 100 injured were carried away on the peace banners they were bringing to the rally. so far, there has been no immediate claim of responsibility. this attack bears all the hallmarks of an isis-style attack. the opposition parties and many people at the rally do not support the government. say that the timing is very suspicious. in three weeks, there will be important elections in the country and opposition parties

let's get the latest from nbc meteorologist now dylan dreyer. dylan? >> craig, looks like the flood threat remains until at least tuesday. look at the rain over the last 12 hours. it has been streaming over the same part of south carolina since thursday. in fact, since thursday we've already picked up in some areas 16 inches of rain in spots just outside of myrtle beach. we also ended up with about 10 to 12 inches of rain especially just outside of charleston. there you see right in through there, and this is the area where they are looking at more rain over the next several hours. so we do have flash flood watches in effect across the western part of the state through tomorrow. the eastern part of the state through monday, because we could still see an additional 7 to up to 10 inches of rain right in this bullseye to the north and west of charleston leading to flash flooding and could also lead to some mudslides, since the ground is already completely saturated. we also have a coastal flood threat from long island all the way down into new jersey, wit

we turn now to nbc meteorologist dylan dreyer. hi, dylan. >> good evening, kate, going to see improvements as we go through this week. the meantime, we still have this dip in the jet stream that is dragging down the cold air, going to be very chilly back still through parts of the great lakes areas and also up and down the east coast where we have freeze watches and warnings in effect for temperatures that will be close to freezing early monday morning. temperatures in washington, d.c. starting off at 35 degrees. 34 in new york, portland, maine, 26 degrees, it's unseasonably cold, morning lows running about 10 to 15 degrees below average but it's not going to last all week long. by monday in chicago, we are back up into the 70s, close to 80 by wednesday. detroit starts to warm up this week as well. pittsburgh a little chilly on monday, high of 59 degrees, back up near 70 by wednesday and new york, even though we are starting off about 55 for a h high on monday, should be 54 by the time we get to wednesday. out in the southwest, see
