good afternoon, i'm matt miller in for dylan ratigan. the american people would be grateful this holiday if washington stopped acting like a bunch of turkeys. the bird has landed on any chance the so-called super committee will come to agreement on getting our fiscal house in order. so now americans will have to gobble up more than 1 trillion in arbitrary cuts, right? well, not so fast. those so-called triggers don't come into play until 2013, long after next thanksgiving and more importantly well after the 2012 elections so the turkeys in d.c. continue to serve up a half-baked debate while they focus on getting elected. what americans are hopeful for is an honest plan equal to the challenges that we face, but maybe that's my impossible thanksgiving dream. joining us now with deep wisdom on all this is an economic policy study director at the american enterprise institute and bob greenstein, director of the senate on budget policies. let me start with you, the super committee was a bust, largely expected but still somewhat disappointing.

nice to see you, i am dylan ratigan. today's other big story is penn state. as more information comes out about jerry sandusky, the focus has shifted between the close ties between his charity, second mile, and penn state. former head coach joe paterno served as master of ceremonies for the charity's fund-raisers. former players as donors, and a board full of penn state alum. it gets tougher and tougher to tell where the university ends and sandusky's charity begins. here, of course, the latest example of how this scandal goes far beyond one man and into a system that exists with no accountability, at least in regard to issues like this. and now assistant coach mike mcqueary's grand jury testimony and recent e-mails are in direct conflict over the details of what exactly he did the day he walked in on sandusky with the young boy in '02. today mcqueary spoke briefly to nbc. >> do you feel in your heart that you did the right thing? >> again, i'm not going to go into detail about anything, but, you know, i think it's -- i think it's obvious i tried to do the ri

i am dylan ratigan. today's top story here, penn state and the growing investigation into the child sexual assault allegations at the university. if you thought this story ended with head coach joe paterno and the university president, graham spanier, being fired, think again. the news today, the man at the center of the charges, former assistant coach, jerry sandusky, is still receiving a hefty pension from penn state, about $60,000 a year. he's now out on what many say is a cut-rate bail. and as for the judge who set it at $100,000, it's due only if he doesn't show in court. it turns out the judge, who set the bail, was a volunteer at sandusky's charity. one that some say was a front for sandusky's alleged recruitment of young boys. by the way, the head of that charity, the second mile, resigned today. and according to a harrisburg patriot news special report, only one state trooper was assigned to this case for the duration of the first 15 months of the investigation going back to 2008. and then there

my name is dylan ratigan. and today's big story once again, penn state.breaking developments in the child abuse scandal surrounding, as you know, jerry sandusky. the judge that was handling his case, a person who was tied as a volunteer to sandusky's charity, has been replaced. also today, e-mails emerge from mike mcqueary, a name you may know at this point, the grad assistant who said he saw sandusky sexually abusing a boy in the penn state locker room. this goes back to 2002. the e-mails that were released contradict what was in the grand jury report. now in the mcqueary e-mails, he says, and i'll quote, i did stop it, not physically, but made sure it was stopped when i left that locker room. i did have discussions with police and with the official at the university in charge of police. he goes on to say in the e-mail, i am getting hammered for handling this the right way. now the definition of the right way, of course, has been the subject of heated debate, a debate had a has now reached congress with representative bobby rusch calling for a congressio
