. >>> dylann roof says he is not mentally ill and shows no remorse. the penalty phase of his trial resumes today. roof is representing himself and says he will not call any witnesses. prosecutors plan to call 38 people related to the victim. marlie hall reports. >> reporter: dylann roof told jurors he wasn't going to lie to them and said, quote, there's nothing wrong with me psychologically. the 22-year-old said he's representing himself to stop his lawyers from presenting the results of his mental health evaluation. earlier the prosecutors told the jury roof's horrific acts justify the death penalty saying he killed the nine black members at a church because of their skin. he wrote, i would like to make it crystal clear i do not regret what i did. i am not sorry. i do not shed a tear for the innocent people i kill. roof did not ask to be spared the death penalty during his brief opening statement. he previously said he does not plan to call any witnesses or present any evidence. journalist jennifer berry haws has followed the case from the beginning
