eamon javers joins us with more. >> can you believe it's only been a year? it feels like longer for those of us covering the wild ride of news in the past year. buhas the president been keeping his promises we went back and looked at five key promises take a look at them on the screen the president made during his campaign he talked about repealing and replacing obamacare. he talked about building a wall and making mexico pay for it cutting taxes, cutting regulations, and renegotiating nafta. at the end of one year, how has he done. pretty well in terms of keeping up with the promises taken step by step, building a wall and making mexico pay for it, that one is going to be incomplete, ultimately but cutting regulations, that's a promise kept as we go through the list here, you see that the president also kept his promise on cutting taxes as well. the president here has been able to keep promises on a couple of key items that he promised his base i think the base is going to stick with him, ultimately the base has seen a lot of these controversies over staffi

. >> hey, eamon, how typical is it for the white house and lawmakers to sort of draft these guidelinesd testimony like this >> well, if you look back to previous errors where there have been significant conflicts you look at the clinton erica, the nixon era. in both case, there was significant wrangling and because executive privilege is not xeskly spelled out in the constitution, it's built up over time in a series of legal decisions. there is some wiggle room here and typically, that's handled through negotiation. what the white house says is that they feel that they've negotiated in advance of bannon's appearance, but the house intelligence committee didn't either get the message or didn't adhere to the agreem. these are interesting cob conversations that happened in major debates like this. this question is whether or not this white house and this president are going to officially invoke executive privilege and assert that privilege legally and formally they've not wanted to do that because u it could be embarrassing they've said there's simply nothing here in the russia investigat

of last year the president will deliver the state of the union address tonight at 9:00 eastern time eamon javers joins us with more from washington. >> good morning. you might hear one or two mentions of the stock market in the state of the union address tonight. it's one of the president's favorite topics. this is his first state of the union. last year we saw him in a similar format, but that was just an address to congress. this is the official state of the union, pomp and circumstance we will see tonight. the white house giving us a sense of some topics that the president will cover not a lot of specifics yet on what the president will say. we do know he will be talking about jobs and the economy, and he will talk about infrastructure, the question is whether we will see specifics of his big infrastructure plan which we expect the white house to roll out more detail on in coming weeks immigration has been a hot button issue we'll see where the president comes down on that trade and national security. you can expect a fairly upbeat tone from the president. we saw sarah huckabee sanders
