let's bring in eamon javers. >> reporter: what was striking to me is when the president was talking about his relationship with the polish people in answer to the polish media question this gives you a sense of how personal all of these diplomatic relations are to this president. he said that because of president duda's leadership, because he feels close to the polish people and president there, he was willing to take that action on announcing the 1,000 american troops going to be stationed in poland at a base that the polish are going to pay for. the president putting all of this in personal terms that leads me to think that the relationship with xi jinping is going to be so paramount on that question on whether or not we get a deal between the united states and china it's all personal in this president's opinion. this is a leader who deals one on one with the top guy in each country and likes to deal one on one country by country he's not talking a lot here about nato and some of the multilateral, multinational organizations. he's talking about his relationship one on one with each coun

let's get to eamon javers. >> that's right. here's what's going on a senior administration official just had lunch at the hey adams hotel across the street from the white house with a number of reporters. and in that lunch, the official sort of laid out some of the expectations forthe g-20 you can read this as expectation setting for the g-20 to make sure that the global financial community understands what might happen, what might not happen at the g-20 this official telling reporters just within the past hour or so, ultimately, that the united states is not willing to come to the g-20 with a list of concessions on trade and also that no broad trade deal is expected here at the g-20. the official also saying ultimately that there's a possibility that the u.s./china trade talks could go on for months or years. so that is the downside of sort of what the official said. the official also suggesting, though, that this g-20 summit could represent the rekindling of talks between the united states and china remember, those talks brok

that's the question this morning and eamon javers has perhaps the question. >> hi.ica great. the new slogan for 2020. the president will be in orlando, florida, today. announcing his re-election campaign and that presents corporate america with something of a dilemma do they back this president publicly with their campaign cash typically for a republican president running for re-election that would be a no-brainer, but this is a different president in a different era. take a look at some past republican presidential candidates and how much they raised from business and you see george w. bush raised $2.1 million and mitt romney in '12 raised almost $1 billion from business pacs and president trump raised $47,000 from business pacs those writing through the political action committee directly to the drum campaign as opposed to super pac or another organization. that's a very low number and that the president could struggle this time around to match even that figure given his agenda and the way it's split the business community. some consultants in washington suggest t
