we've seen most of the showers moving across the north and east bay and becoming more scattered. a spotty light shower or two expected over the last couple of hours. we have dense fog in parts of the bay area this morning. looking at half-moon bay where the visibility has dropped down to a half of a mile. we are seeing dense fog across parts of the sacramento valley and also patchy fog across the north bay. we will be watching out for that and then we will get partly to mostly cloudy skies today, a little warmer in the south bay compared to the rest of the bay area, low to mid 60s, 65 in pleasanton and 59 degrees in san mateo today. 57 degrees on the embarcadero and 60 degrees today in santa rosa. if you are traveling on know someone who will be traveling there may be problems boston down to dallas. there's snow and ice and some really cold temperatures as we bring you back home we are going to have these storms rolling in over the next few days and then our next round of rain moves in by thursday with some scattered showers and heavy sierra snow. we may have wind gusts in the sie

low 50s and 60s around the tri-valley in east bay. temperatures low 60s. similar temperature trend in san francisco. probably light rain by the evening. for the north bay, we'll begin to see some of that rain showing up by tomorrow morning. so the timeline on the first storm from late morning to mid afternoon, you see the showers here, mainly san francisco northward. but as we head towards the evening now and approaching midnight we begin to see the showers drop out of the north bay. and it looks like your tuesday morning commute at this point, jewel to deal with some rain at times. but it quickly clears out. by lunchtime and tuesday afternoon, things will be dry, somewhat cooler and breezy. and rain totals are not going to be as big initially if you look at the rainfall expectations from monday to tuesday. areas in the north by maybe a quarter inch of rain. closer to santa rosa and generally less than a tenth of an inch in the south bay. but we do have more storms stack up. first system coming in tomorrow into tuesday. thursday and friday, cold pocket of a

(pam) an east bay family is fed up..say, vandals have been egging their home off and on for years ... and they want it to stop.... thank you for joining us im pam moore (steve) and im steve aveson the pinole family says, the latest egging happened just night. they have now reached out to kron 4 for help and our own charles clifford is live for us tonight in pinole with details. natswe have eggs down here. . . deanna mayfield says that for the past three years, someone has been throwing eggs at her mothers house here in pinole.. the culprit attacks in the middle of the night and then dissapear for months at time. . . but always comes back eventually. the last incident was monday evening, the egg shells are still sitting on the driveway.sot it's on the walls and above the garage. my mom has tried to clean it up but it wont come offthe family doesn't know who's doing this or why. deanna spectulates that it might be one of her sister's former

east. fairfield down to a mile. napa, three mile. across the north bay, that fog is there. and we, in fact, have a dense fog advisory. east of us, san joaquin valley. but all the way south to bakersfield. quarter mile or less visibility, throughout much of california this morning. so of course, no high beams, keep a distance from the car in front of you. it's going to impact a lot of folks. here's the view again. you can see the hazy conditions on the camera shot. not as clear as what you are used to seeing. headlines today, patchy fog this morning. then we could get, a quarter to three-quarters of an inch of rain. for the north bay especially. the storm, the first of two this week, is going to impact the north bay the most. may not even impact the south of the golden gate bridge. high defer doppler -- high-def doppler. let's check in now with jaclyn. >>> we have a traffic alert in effect for drivers, headed along 280 this morning. southbound direction had been shut down at alameny this. is due to a police shooting investigation. so again, all lanes shut down in the southbou

parts of marin county and extending over towards the east bay where you see all the yellow. where we zoom into the south bay, we're getting a steady rain moving through and a lot of yellows moving into san francisco right now and extending over towards oakland. we will have a flash flood watch in effect starting at noon and continuing into early tomorrow morning for those burn scar areas where we may have some debris flows and mudslides. rain will be very heavy at times and a wind advisory also kicking in for this afternoon, as the wind pick up to about 40 to possibly 50 miles per hour. and some of the higher elevations. so, a possible impact as a storm continues to move into the bay area. and, also, a look at when it moves out. mike, you have a traffic alert. >> i do, kari. one of the earlier crashes we talked about. sig alert for the area and major impact which we have seen and we have talked about. 101 for san jose. a lot more storms than we've seen over the last three weeks. the build for the tri-valley and east bay for hayward and this is a huge problem. west 24 at colle

(pam) in the east bay...san leandro city manager chris zapata is on paid administrative leave tonight.... following a sexual harassment accusation. the city council unanimously voted to place zapata on leave last night. the woman... rose padilla johnson ... filed a complaint with the city back in december... she claims..... zapata attempted to pressure her into a sexual relationship, in exchange for public funding for the organization that she oversees. zapata will remain on paid administrative leave... until the city council reviews the findings from an independent investigation. (steve)also in the east bay: the berkeley unified school district is taking action tonight... after lead was found in the drinking water at some of its schools. only one school -- willard middle school -- had lead levels exceeding state standards.. that fountain was immediately closed off to students. four other schools found some traces of lead in their water fountains... and those were also closed off to students. the school distr

( darya ) happening today... the world surf league will make an announcement about the mavericks surf contest. organizers of the event have already notified all competitors that the event could begin as soon as monday. the all-day contest would start at eight in the morning... at the well-known spot off pillar point in half moon bay. a significant swell is expected to hit the coast this weekend. but competition can't start until the world surf league approves it. the contest window opened on january 3rd and runs until the end of february. this is the first time women are able to compete in the event.
