when the rain comes down because we're seeing it closing in even on the south bay and parts of the east bay. but as we are looking at the heaviest rain, it's on the peninsula with a light, steady rain in much of the north bay. so the heavy rain has moved through, it's shifting a little farther south, moving into oakland, as well as all the way up and down 880. we'll continue to see it filling in for the tri-valley in the next few minutes. it is really dumping down on the peninsula right now. all areas, either 280, 101, doesn't matter, you're going to have a rough drive because of the heavy rain if you're about to step out the door soon. and it's also going to be picking up in san jose. >>> mike, you were looking at a rainy shot of the bay bridge toll plaza. >> the radar, here is what it looks like. our live camera at the bay bridge getting hit with a lot of rain. look at all the water kicking up behind the cars, rooster tail action going on. so the blue shows you with the puddling and ponding is. richmond ridge i showed you, the bay bridge as well. we'll probably see more blue in this area.

it's really picked up for parts of the peninsula once again, but it's also been moving into the east bay with some heavier rain. so the north bay is taking a break just north of santa rosa, but it's going to start to taper off a little sooner than we'll see for the east bay. it will continue for the next couple of hours for spots like concord, livermore, dublin, down to fremont, as well as over toward oakland and we're seeing heavier rain moving toward san mateo. and for the south bay, some light showers in san jose, but it is pouring in the santa cruz mountains. we're going to see the wave coming through and spotty showers late morning into the afternoon. most of the heavier rain coming in early and we'll have a brief break before the next storm system comes in tomorrow evening. so i'll time it out for you as you're trying to make some weekend plans. we'll talk more about that. mike, you were saying the bay bridge metering lights are on. >> they are. i think it's simply because of the climate -- not the climate, the rain. we're looking at the weather impacting the drive, wet conditions,

water has piled up a little bit consistently wet all the way up and down the peninsula as well as east bay shoreline. south bay, you've been dry slotted so far. that's when you start to see the heaviest of rainfall. a pair in the santa cruz mountains kind of fizzles out by the time it reaches you so some spots down there really nearly only seen sprinkles while you head up into the hills and mount hamilton. it's been piling up as far as snowfall goes. little wintry mix down in the santa cruz mountains. but you're fairly consistently just rainy as you're traveling on highway 17 bit of good news there. pretty wet at the coastline as well. highway one is very slick this morning. you're also seeing a mix of rain and snow there across the east bay. i say snow because mount diablo is and snow level. that means you've been seeing a few light flurries up there this morning and for solano county also been a pretty consistently wet morning for you. lake county got to focus on you for a minute because we have a winter storm warning in the snow continues to pile up up there now. big picture showing mor

now to the other developing story out of the east bay. the fact that we've got a whole lot of people, thousands of people still without power in open because of a transformer that blew. now that outage is affecting homes and businesses before while was also delayed flights at the oakland airport as will tran. following the latest. and luckily been telling us the airport seems to be getting back on track down. >> flights might be delayed but you can't blame it on the power outage. everything is smooth this morning out of oakland international. you can see people being picked up and dropped off. not a problem, but for a 4 hour window. >> everything came to a screeching halt because yes, those airplanes they take off with fuel. but you still need power to go through all the checkpoints and make the airport itself run. and they didn't have that yesterday because of this. a blown transformer that happened at the 50th and coliseum substation. it caught fire and because of that ripple effect all across the east bay, particularly oakland and alam
