also in the east bay, an unusual homicide investigation in the hills of east oakland. a woman was found shot to death wednesday night on keller avenue, near campus drive. the details around what happened there, still a mystery. the victim 's identity has not been released, so far no word on any suspects. >>> back in the city of san francisco, a driverless car got into a crash last night, injuring the passenger on the inside. it happened around 10:15 at turk and polk street. according to a firefighter at the scene, a driverless crews vehicle did not respond to a fire truck responded like all nearby, that truck hit the side of the car, causing the woman on the inside in the back seat to bump her head. crews says in a statement this morning that the passenger was transported by ambulance for what they believe are not severe injuries. meanwhile, the company says it is still investigating the crash, and will be in touch with city officials. we know this comes less than one week after state regulators gave crews and waymo a green light to expand robot taxi operations all acr

nbc bay area sky ranger over a police chase in the east bay.are told this is near the ikea near emeryville. you can see this chase is happening in the residential area. i do not know what that building is. you can see sky ranger showing us the streets here. this is involving a white infinity. this car has been driving very erratically and avoiding law enforcement for some time. pursuit started around 3:20 this afternoon and it is now 4:48, this has been happening for over an hour. pd and contra costa sheriff started pursuing this white infinity. the pursuit went from the east bay into san francisco and the pursuit on the ground was called off for quite some time. we understand the chp chopper is still over it, but you can see some of the police vehicles. now that vehicles driving progress. through grass. this car has hit several cars. it actually went back over the a bridge back into emeryville earlier. no word on why police are chasing that driver. we have made phone calls, we are constantly making phone calls trying to figure out what's going

the east bay.when the vehicle hit multiple cars and a police dog during the pursuit, the suspect traveled through several cities before getting back on i-80 and driving into san francisco to chp. officers attempted to stop that white infiniti but abandoned their pursuit for the safety of other drivers. helicopters continue to follow the car. the suspect returned to the east bay and the chase ended up in the city of richmond. the driver abandoned the car, ran into an apartment. units where a standoff ensued. he eventually surrendered to officers a little after 9:00 last night, gunfire in an oakland neighborhood forced a family to run for cover to safety. dozens of gunshots rang out, lasting more than a minute. they were captured by a neighbor's camera near 96 avenue in birch on thursday night. car windows were shattered, homes riddled with bullet holes. two struck the home of a spanish speaking man who did not want to be identified. he told us he was barbecuing in his front yard, but when he heard t

some low 80s around the east bay. 80 in hayward. as we go into the valleys, that's where the low 90s will pop up down through the south county. we're going to keep an eye on the winds breezy afternoon as we go from into novato into solano county and this will continue into tuesday. it takes more of an offshore flow. early on through wednesday morning, one is expected to ramp up to be the hottest day this week. so let's go there. tuesday, we're seeing the temperatures bumped up a little bit. in areas like concord, 98 in fairfield, and overall, just a warm day. dry wind in those hills. we will see the temperatures nearing 100 degrees in the inland valleys. we'll do 95 in santa rosa and the beaches will be very nice and warm where people will head out and find relief. cooler temperatures into thursday and friday. more of that wind from the pacific will help cool us off as we go into the weekend. especially relief in the overnight hours for those who are more sensitive to the heat will start to cool things down. overall, san francisco.

this my warmest spot on the map that inner east bay. we've got some nice 60's 70's around the bay itself. mid 70's up in the north bay and south bay about the same story mountain view about 77 a little breeze, but not too much. just how we like it this afternoon. we'll see that pick up a little bit. it's nice to still get a little more of that on shore flow. and then that high pressure that i mentioned is going to start rolling towards us. and as it does, it's going to bump the temperatures up at southern california will bear the brunt of this. but we, too, are going to see our temperatures start to roll up. so i mentioned southern california because they do have the excessive heat warning that is that will go into effect on saturday right through monday for them. but for us, we're not seeing quite that extreme of heat, but yet we are still going to see some heat. so this is tomorrow where you'll see the inner east bay roll into those mid 90's and we'll see kind of a low 90's in the north bay. more 80's in the south bay. really pleasant

it's still warm for inland parts, especially in the east bay, current temperatures in the 80s, 60s around the bay, 50s along the coast. temperatures tomorrow will be another step up, just a few degrees warmer around the bay. 80s and 90s farther inland and step up from there on sunday with some of the hottest spots up to around or above 100 degrees. one of the hottest spots is antioch. your heat risk today, excessive heat risk, which is basically the risk of overexertion, topped out in the moderate category, elevated technically this afternoon, moderate tomorrow. that means we aren't likely to have any significant heat-related health concerns even for sensitive populations, but that does climb sunday when temperatures get up to 100 degrees, into the high category, but it's another brief heatwave. we'll talk about when temperatures return to normal, won't take long, coming up in the full forecast. >> thank you, paul. >>> we told you earlier this week about an algae bloom spotted along the east bay shoreline and now reported sightings of dead fish are certainly setting off more alarm bells.

and certainly if you head to the inner east bay, it's already 91 degrees in antioch. that's where the heat's going to be again today. however, we're also going to see some of the north bay and 83 right now for santa rosa, where about 80 in san carlos. 83 in san jose. i want to take you back to about 6 o'clock this morning. we had a line of showers and a little bit of lightning kind of rolling and you might have caught a little bit of that in antioch in fairfield was quick, but that is some of that monsoonal moisture. tropical component to it. one of the reasons we're starting to feel a little more humidity as well. this is where we're at right now. or you can see just a little lightning going kind of to the northeast of clearlake. so that chance that very slight chance is around over the next 24 hours. rain, it kind of kicks and usually mostly we get into the heat of the day. you can kind of see that starting to happen a little bit right here in this year in the central part of the state. so we'll be keeping an eye on that. we have this dance between high pressure caus

those who felt it in the east bay had it registered on just slightly. so no damage any time they happen. they catch your attention. all right, let's talk about how this will play out from a thunderstorm standpoint. because in addition to a light shaker, there was a weak little cell that moved through inland contra costa county this morning and tried to drop lightning as it moved north. right now it is real quiet but there are still thunderstorms in the sierra. what happens next, we put it in the futurecast. none of these have a high likelihood of getting here. there is no forecast for rain, let alone thunderstorms. but, over the last 24 to 36 hours, there has been a stray little shower that has come in at odd hours for the east bay. and we'll watch that chance. it is down to a 10% chance. you can see how quiet things are here. we don't have anything set up that would favor any more coming back. don't be surprised if the sky looks interesting and the clouds look interesting. look how close the thunderstorms will be. they are never leaving california enti
