upper 70s and low 80s for much of the inland east bay. er to antioch that will be warmer, reaching 87 degrees. for daly city, expect a high of 74 today. in san francisco, downtown, 70 degrees. really nice across much of the bay area. a little warmer, though, for clearlake in santa rosa reaching 85 degrees. it already has been active for the start of the fall season. this first week of fall, we have had two or three storm systems hitting the pacific northwest, and there's another one approaching. this time it could bring us rain for the weekend for parts of the bay area. by late tomorrow evening we are seeing light rain possibly developing near the coastline as well as in the north bay. starts out light, and then as we go through the day on saturday, it could be more hit or miss across the bay area and anywhere we could see light showers falling. looks like some of the more measurable rain will be in the north bay, while most of us see about 0.1 to quarter inch of rain, and it could be a few hundreds inches of rain in some spots. sierra sno

and for the east bay, vallejo reaching 77, and in fremont reaching 86 degrees, 88 in livermore. d then for the coast it's another cool day with half moon bay at 66, and 79 in redwood city. in san francisco, downtown upper 60s, and then for the north bay we're headed for the low 80s for napa up to santa rosa. we've been keeping an eye on the tropics. here is a look at a new system that has rapidly developed in the overnight hours. this is hurricane jova that will continue to move to the west-northwest. this is expected to become a major category 4 hurricane, but the good news is it stays in the pacific and weakens. we're not expecting this to have an impact close to home. we're seeing the lows pass to the north of us that are giving the pacific northwest rain and cooler temperatures and helping to give us seasonable weather with the ocean breeze that keeps our temperatures moderated. in between those systems, our temperatures go up. take a look at napa, going from low to mid-80s to briefly hitting 90 degrees. once we see the ocean breeze return, we go back to the upper 70s. we're

we see other areas like san francisco and parts of the east bay. they're now yellow. at means moderate air quality with a mixture of some orange. and that means unhealthy for sensitive again, that read remains very heavy up here in the north bay. and take a look at this video. this is really what most of the bay area looks like this week. and this is what we're going to see here this morning in santa rosa that thick layer of smoke and haze all throughout the area. air quality experts are saying if you're smelling the smoke there definitely inhaling it. at that point, you should be staying inside, closing up your doors or windows. and of course, using your air conditioner to circulate that good air. they're also saying that during this advisory businesses and residents across the bay area should be avoiding using fireplaces, wood stoves and other outdoor fire pits to make sure that they're not adding to that. and if you are having any respiratory issues or you're sensitive to that you should be definitely wearing masks back out here live from downtown santa rosa. i've g

bay shore, still some stubborn pockets of poor, though, around santa rosa as well as the inland east bay the south bay to a lot of that smoke is just clumped up in those inland valleys. now, we will still see some haze making its where direction the volume and intensity of smoke building from that northern california complex will be lessened, though. so less of it. but you can still see as we make our way into friday and saturday, you'll still notice maybe moderate conditions but not going to be near as bad as the past couple of days have been today. we still have a spare the air alert in effect it at times we will have pockets of unhealthy for sensitive groups throughout the course of the day. so it's just something i want you to anticipate. today is nowhere near picture. perfect. and we have something else we got to talk about, too. we have winds increasing in the north bay. this is resulting in heightened fire danger in red flag warnings for upper elevations of sonoma and napa and solano counties with the pairing of dry brush, low humidity and stronger winds. we have the higher fire d

we are seeing the thickest of smoke down in the south bay east bay and on the peninsula. not as bad comparatively up in the north bay, but you're not perfect. that's for sure. all of us across the bay area at least have some sort of impact from this wildfire smoke. so what's going on here? as daria mentioned, we have fires burning up near the oregon border. it's called the smith river complex, burning both in oregon and northern california. we saw all that smoke yesterday. finally drifting our direction. i say finally because we haven't seen much of it this year and it sifted first right through the golden gate bridge, san francisco and then the bayshore where the first spots to really feel the impact from that in the diffusing into the rest of the bay. and now we're all waking up to it yet again today. today is not going to be a data plan, a whole lot outdoors. and if you do those n 95, you have laying around make sure to use we'll see pockets of smoke still drifting in, especially from the coastline and at times air quality will be worse than other times. so keep it with
