clearing the peninsula south bay in the east bay. but problem areas up north and you'll notice it looks like this was the favorite there in the north bay. you're going to fight a lot of that cloud cover. along the peninsula and a good chunk of the bay looks like things will open up nicely this afternoon. pence when maybe a little bis of a little shower here or there. let's get into tonight. and again, a passing shower across the bay. better clearing find if you folks up north, it looks like and for the east bay little chunk, though, here for the peninsula, some variable clouds were not entirely going to shake this off all weekend long as we wait for the whole system to kind of play out, it's kind of getting snagged as a drop south. that's early in the season. the systems don't have a lot of moisture with them just yet. the next one's going to get good try for us. middle of the week again by winter standards. it doesn't have a lot, but certainly this time of year that'll be a nice treat. getting into monday. it looks like much the same

the east bay shore. upper 70s for the inner east bay. today. tomorrow we are going to have clouds that ride over northern california and farther north, this plume of moisture tapping in with the low that will bring some activity to areas over washington, oregon. and again, just northern california. for us, we actually have a weak ridge that is going to be over the bay area in the coming days, and that is going to keep our temperatures even a little bit above average, especially for our inland cities into friday. we had hoped we'd see some rain out of this. doesn't really look like it will be the case. and then into the back end of the weekend, another system moving through the pacific northwest. just notice how active it is to the north of us, but not much for us. we may pick up a few one hundredths of an inch or so, not expecting much across the bay area through the week, but we'll be watching in case it all changes. fine tuning it as we go. temperatures in and around the bay area right now in the low to mid to upper 50s half moon bay at 45 de

excessive heat warnings in pink where temperatures will be at our very hardest specially for and east bay. yesterday was already a scorcher and it's not even the hottest yet tying if not breaking records for some spots in the bay. this high pressure ridge is firmly entrenched. now has that ultimate impact on the forecast both today and tomorrow. we will start to back off the heat towards the weekend. no major dip in the jet stream here. but just enough of to help at least cool us back into the 90's at the warmest by the upcoming weekend. so how hot will today be 80's to 90's in the city? these will be the first 90's of the year for san francisco neighborhoods. we've got 90's in some spots out along the coastline with daly city at 97 degrees today. ogre not at 91. just absolute scorching hot of temperatures. brisbane, 87 while burlingame at 101 today, triple digits continue down the peninsula from san mateo down to mountain view. redwood city at 104, for your daytime high south bay. temperatures also in the triple digits with san jose at 101 degrees today, campbell at 102 east bay numbers.

and the east bay. several people august place this morning pleasant hill after fire broke out at their apartment near diablo valley college firefighters say they responded to viking park apartments shortly before 3 tuesday afternoon. say the fire partially destroyed 2 apartments severely damaged. another 8 investigators think the fire started in a common area between the bathrooms of 2 units for plumbers were working. the fire spread to the building's attic space as well as the bathrooms. at least 10 units were impacted and nobody was hurt. while in san francisco, the man who was hit and killed by a car in the western addition neighborhood last week has now been identified. 35 year old jonathan chase. johnson, his colleagues tell us johnson worked as a bartender at site guice in the city's mission. police say johnson was hit near gary and divisadero around 7 friday morning. he died at the hospital later on that day. the driver involved stayed at the scene. and what led to that crash is still under inve

a suspected burglar in the east bay apparently caught red-handed.s live in oakland with that story. michael. >> hi, good morning, everyone. that's right. this happened at around 2 o'clock this morning here in downtown oakland. the owner of the store says the burglar was able to break but he could break out. take a look. this is some video of that scene. again. it happened right at 2.15, or so this morning. and you can see oakland police arresting a man for breaking into the shoe spot. it's located at jefferson and 7th street in downtown oakland. he appears to have a net wrapped around his neck and this is after police said they were responding to a break-in call. they caught him. they're breaking in owner of the store, told our photojournalist on the scene he had received calls from neighbors. that is storms being burglarized. he called police and told them the suspect was actually still in the store that the suspect crawled into a small glass panel window and then he couldn't seem to get back out. the owner says right now no goods were stolen. howe

so we are looking at poor air quality in the south bay and in the east bay, north bay, moderate air quality, beautiful right along the coastline. temperatures right now cooler than they were yesterday at this hour. and nevertheless, we're seeing some numbers in the 90's. 97 in livermore, 97 in pittsburgh. 72 in sausalito and half moon bay, 63 degrees. so it's definitely cooler than it was. yesterday was 13 degrees. warmer at this hour in santa rosa yesterday, down 6 degrees in oakland, 6 degrees cooler in san jose as well. so we are certainly seeing hot conditions so hot that the heat alerts have been extended through saturday night at 11. so we have excessive heat advisory in effect for the south bay in the east bay in parts of the north bay. and we have heat advisories in effect for many, much of the bay area. so >> that's what's going on there. it's all courtesy of the big old area of high pressure and that heat dome is long as it's in place. we're going to have continued warm temperatures even though it's a little cooler than it was yesterday. we still have continued hot. it's a departu
