so expect some of that low cloud cover here throughout the coastline and making it to the east bay and the north bay a little bit there for the south bay. then as we roll through the afternoon, lots of sunshine returning here throughout the bay area. morning temperatures will be a mix, 30s and 40s. some of the coldest inland valleys would range anywhere from 35 to about 39 degrees. so you see, you're in that range here in the tri-valley at 38 for the south bay 43, also coming in with some chilly upper 30s through the east bay. and for the north bay back here to san francisco, 45 temperatures for tomorrow. we're still on a steady climb through the afternoon. that's going to put us into the mid 60s down here across the south bay. nice day to just be outside back here in concord 64, napa 61. and then at the coastline, we've got our typical chiy breeze that will bring us to 57 and half moon bay 59 right here in san francisco. we're going to see those temperatures stay just about like this all thehe way into sunday's forecast. then as we fast forward things into next monday. the big concern

temperatures in the east, in the north bay interior valleys and the east bay interior valleys and the santa clara valley will drop down to about 32 and the coldest locations. so frost will form at that level and may damage sensitive plants. right now, though, we're looking at temperature readings of 62 in san francisco and oakland, 60 in hayward, mid 60s at san jose and redwood city, 59 at half moon bay, looking down onto the bay from mount tam, we see that temperatures are generally in the 60s up in the north bay as well. and these are our forecast highlights. cold with frost advisory overnight tomorrow, though. sunny and mild with lighter wind, and wednesday through friday sunny and warmer. so for tonight look for low temperatures dropping to about 33. santa rosa 34, vallejo 30 at fairfield. that will be the coldest spot, we think. and around the bay shoreline we'll see lows in the upper 30s. highs tomorrow, generally in the low or low to mid 60s up to about 66 in san jose, which is pretty mild. and i just almost stumbled on my way back to the desk. here's a look at the accuweather

i just want to go local to the east bay. now watch what happens when we would play this through and bring it ahead to tomorrow morning. you will see another area that will light up. sure, the north bay has the gusty winds. but take a look over here. east bay health. the offshore winds will be coming over the ridge top here, which is not terribly high. but if you are just downwind, and you get that assist, you can get some down sloping. it's not only oakland, but berkeley hills, castro valley. between the hours of say sunrise and let's say 10:00 a.m. you can see the windsic be up in intensity over here. the rest of the day and it will stay windy and turn off completely. it is not terrible for most of us, but it will be the morning hours for the east bay communities on the downwind side of the east bay hills that might feel a little bit more. so be aware of that. then things will quiet down. remember, that will expire on tuesday at 10:00 a.m. there is one other element to discuss in the weather. let's get back to the virtual ma

as we take a look from the east bay hills from the lawrence livermore lab right over across to to the into the ocean. so temperatures right now we're in the 50's and 60's. but these are >> dropping now that the sun has set, of course, as you expect, will head down into the 50's and 40's and even some areas in the 30's temperature change compared to yesterday. it's a bit of cooler day today than yesterday. cooler right now, 4 degrees cooler from nevado and 2 degrees cooler in half moon bay. plus 3, though in livermore. depends on where you work. wind gusts that we've been seeing and just tick undecided, consistent, offshore flow of wind. now, look what happens tomorrow as we start to see more of a seabreeze. the breeze is kicking from the ocean right into the inland areas. we're starting to see a little bit of a change, but still high pressure reign. supreme high pressure is still our dominant weather feature and that means dry weather for us. and sadly dry weather also for our neighbors and friends in southern california. they could really use the rain they're so far behind in the rai

you know, the jail and also down in red county east bay, all the communities running the shoreline of the bay shoreline into the eastern santa clara mountains. and even the santa cruz mountains. temperature changes warmer today than yesterday. at this hour, as many as 8 degrees warmer in napa, 13 degrees warmer in livermore and 11 degrees warmer in half moon bay. it's going to be a beautiful day. gorgeous, start 40's and 50's for the most part. and the air quality only so-so. and part of the problem really is just high pressure has been park building in again right across the central coast. and that acts like a little bit traps. particulate matter close to the surface and also, of course, there's smoke that could be blowing a little bit from southern california. high wind advisory, santa ana winds pushing out of the northeast. that high wind advisories for much of the bay area. not not everywhere, not san francisco, winds at this hour, 33 mile per hour gusts at a napa. but fairfield, 38. 22 livermore. so you can see how these gust continuing. they fluctuate little bit off and on throu

the east bay hills, if you look at the wind coming in the way it's or oriented, it's hitting the east bay hills here and will likely downslope tomorrow. we'll bring up the forecast monitor to allow me to get more specific and slow down the progression of this. keep your eye on the time and watch what happens as we get into the early morning hours of tomorrow. the winds will start picking up here and i'm going to let this go until around like say 6:00 a.m. and that's when you'll see the deeper shades of orange really fill in for much of the immediate east bay. now we've got gusts in the low to mid-40s. this is just on the verge of needing a wind advisory here and the national weather service would take two things into account for this, how strong are the gusts and how long will it last. it's a three or four-hour window, not a long stretch of the day, but it will be tomorrow morning. there's your time at 7:00 a.m. it's going to be going through 10:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m., certainly like 9:00 a.m. might even be the peak time frame and then the winds relax a bit as we get into early afterno

here's your view outside from the east bay hills skies are crystal clear. not a cloud in the sky. be holding on to a very slight offshore wind today. it is not an exceptionally windy day for the bay area, but unfortunately for southern california, neighbors, those dry offshore winds, the santa ana's, they are still kicked well into gear with high wind warnings and red flag warnings all the way through noon tomorrow for many areas. this is affecting the la metro area with critical fire. danger lit up on the map here. so definitely thinking about them as they continue to see such a dry humidity, strong winds and obviously this persistent dry pattern that we are now in the midst of a northern california, too, blocking ridge of high pressure in place. so we are ending the month over the next few weeks with virtually nothing in sight. it is going to be a very dry january, indeed. now temperatures in the 60's for san francisco as well as out along the coastline. a few upper 50's montero down to half moon bay bilbray and burlingame right at 60 degrees. some mid 60's in the south bay this

east bay inland valleys. it's a chilly night tonight and we will be cooler, but when are we going to bring in some rain? i'll have the answers in a few minutes. stephanie. >> all right, lisa, thank you. well, it was another long night for thousands of firefighters working to contain five fires in southern california. and we're seeing more dramatic images come in this morning. and the chaotic rush to evacuate in several communities. just yesterday, new flare ups in the palisades fire forced a new round of evacuations. since that fire has burned over 21,000 acres this morning, it's only 8% contained. the nearby eaton fire has burned more than 14,000 acres, and containment is at 3%. yesterday we learned of another death in the wildfires, bringing the total to 11. now, at least 180,000 people have been forced to evacuate. and as we said earlier, the firefight on the palisades fire took an unexpected turn. overnight, a wind shift caused new flare ups that took crews on the front lines by surprise. listen to the ch

but cold morning east bay hills looking down into the bay under a frost advisory across the entire east bay as well as the north bay and the south bay and much of the peninsula, too. now we do have a switch up in our forecast in the works and arrives this weekend. this low pressure area dives in and with that saturday into sunday, bring a little bit of snowfall to the sierra nevada and for the first time this season, the potential of some light showers for southern california. this low drops into the east of us. it's not going to have a lot of moisture with it. so everything as is going to be very, very small scale. and we're not really going to be seeing anything for the bay area. in fact, a look at your statewide precipitation potential over the weekend. and as you can see, the bay-area not really getting anything, especially not the north coast this year will see likely a couple inches of snowfall. if you're heading up saturday night into sunday, watch for some slick roads up there. and for southern california, some light showers certainly helpful and appreciated. northern california

today in the bay's bob redell joins us live in the east bay this morning. bob, governor newsom is leading this charge to really change this policy. or else they will withhold the state will withhold or limit the number ofhp officers, laura, that they are sending and have been sending into the city of oakland to help that city combat crime. right now, opd and the city administrator are revising the pursuit policy, which will be presented to the oakland police commission. that's the commission that oversees opd sometime next week. tonight, the commission will hold a town hall to hear from oaklanders about their concerns about the current policy, and then perhaps talk about the proposed changes as it stands. oakland police officers are not allowed. they are prohibited from going after suspects unless that suspect has a firearm or is suspected of a violent crime. the city implemented this restrictive policy back in 2014, after an audit found that vehicle pursuits were causing too many crashes and injuries to officers, bystanders and suspects. and that did not j
