here's your view from the east bay hills looking down into the bay. as you can see, we do have a lot of cloud cover out there and active rainfall still falling in the east bay hills itself. as i mentioned, the north bay, you are seeing a brief reprieve from the rainfall. a little bit of good news because after an absolute deluge last night, we do have a lot of standing water on roads in right now along the russian river, justvwest of santa rosa. we actually do have a flood warning with flood watches in effect and those immediate areas just west of santa rosa. let's zoom in on some of these areas that are seeing some of our heaviest of rainfall right now. most of the current moisture plume has shifted a little bit further southward in now with that areas like san jose about to be seeing a huge uptick in rainfall. whatever heavier pockets right here is actually situated right along skyline drive in will be working its way down towards the southern end of the peninsula into the santa clara valley here over the next few minutes. really over the next couple

freeze warning for the north bay valleys and hills. eastara valleys and hills on the east side. they're going until 9 a.m. frost advisory for the rest of us, excluding san francisco and the coast. but even half moon bay is 36 degrees this morning. san francisco at 38, in the north bay, 34 in novato, and 30 degrees for the inner east bay of livermore. as we take a look out to the north bay, 29 sonoma novato. fairfax, 29, in alamo. i'll have a look at what we can expect for the afternoon today, as well as the wet weather that will arrive come tuesday night. that in the extended forecast in just a bit at 631. how are those highways doing, sal? >> well, they're getting more crowded there. rosemary, we do have some conditions there that are getting more crowded, for sure. let's start with the richmond bridge triple a traffic camera showing us that there is a crowd there. now. it's not too long, but there is one. and the bay bridge, it's backed up almost, but not quite to the maze. it's not the worst day i've seen, but definitely it's not light.

so much colder weather out there looking from the east bay hills. you can kind of see a little light there in the distance as we're going to see a little break in the clouds coming our way in. well, looks like this storm system beginning to wind down a bit in some parts of the bay area. a lot of clouds in the census. so things are very wet out there. but the worst is gone by through san francisco. that can't be said the south bay. they're still in the midst of it right now. that front just dragging through parts of the south bay. you see it moving in right now. and as it moves on by that rain line is moving further south. so begin to dry things out a little bit. not entirely. you're still gonna see some scattered showers behind that main cold front. but the heavier activity now moving into san jose all the way up into parts of the east bay, too, is we're going to see more of that rain on and off as we head throughout the evening hours and then begin to taper off around 9 o'clock or so. that's going to begin to move on out and then begin to settle do

santa cruz mountains, east bay hills. totals again tomorrow likely to be up here in sonoma county, lake county and northwestern napa county. you see those areas in red? a lot less again as you head into san jose and morgan hill. so morning temperatures will be mild mid to upper 50s to start the day and high temperatures tomorrow, upper 50s to low 60s, san francisco to oakland, low to mid 60s around san jose southward. now notice the rain projection monday into tuesday. a lot different looking here, as you can see on the rain estimates 1 monday night to tuesday time frame as this frontal boundary passes through and in behind it colder air. look at all the snow in the sierra. we have snow levels close to 7 to 8000ft this weekend. by thursday, as low as 4000ft, which means the higher peaks around the bay area could get a dusting of snow as we pass the middle part of next week. so those rain chances ongoing. this is what the seven day should look like in february. daily rain chances. but boy, that rain will come down pretty h

looking at a live picture from our east bay hills. camera. the clouds are stacked up right now. here's a look at the level three storm tomorrow. expect flooding. rain. thunderstorm chance, strong damaging winds and dangerous surf. we go hour by hour. 6:00 tonight the rain is moving in ahead of the main storm. 7 p.m. you will notice some pockets of moderate rain. even heavier rain at 10 p.m. and then here comes the commute hours 430. you're going to notice the downpours. give yourself extra time because you're going to need it at 530. heaviest rain will be in the east bay and the south bay, and then just scattered downpours for the afternoon hours. but the winds are going to keep going into the late night hours as well, as the rain continues to move through here. as far as the rainfall totals go. most of you are going to see between an inch and a half to 4.5in there in ben lomond. so this is going to lead to flooding on the roadways, smaller streams and creeks. winds are going to come up 43 miles an hour. 11:00 tonight in half moon bay. strongest winds will be at the coast and ov

here's your look at the east bay hills. wet view as we've been seeing so much of where we're at in the bay area, right in the core of the bay. some of our heaviest of rain snow absolutely falling in the sierra. but your biggest snow maker that's actually in the works later on this week. today is absolutely though our biggest rainmaker for the bay area and we're getting a direct hit from, as i mentioned, this moderate strength atmospheric river, which continues to fund a lot of its moisture right into the heart of the bay area. as you can see from richmond on over towards sausalito in mill valley, some heavier rain at the moment. you're also seeing that on some of your bridges right now. that includes the bay bridge, especially your western span, just west of treasure island. really heavy once you get through the tunnel little bit further southward. you're looking at heavier pockets of rain and right on top of sfo, this is an area that has on average a 30 minute delay on all incoming flights right now. yesterday, we already h

freeze warnings posted for the north bay and also for the east bay hills. can see, that means temperatures could be around 27 to 32 degrees. and then a frost advisory for a good chunk of the bay area, not including san francisco or parts of the coastline. but temperatures for that frost advisory will be in the 30s, and there's a good chance we will have another one of those. another issue, another warning and advisory issued for monday morning. so take a look at the numbers for tomorrow morning. widespread 30s across the region. and once again, there's the chance some of the valleys we could have some upper 20s out there. so we will have some frost first thing tomorrow morning. but lots of clear skies right now. the satellite showing you some clouds up to our north, and then some clouds streaming into southern california. so the bay area enjoying mostly clear skies, but some cool conditions out there. we'll check out some of the current numbers for the 10:00 hour, and we have cooled off to 41 in napa. fairfield is 40. san francisco upper 40s and san jose 46

it is cool outside from our east bay hills. camera seeing plenty of sun overnight tonight.. areas of frost tomorrow turns wet and windy. and for the weekend we have cold mornings and sunny days coming your way. frost advisory 12 to 9 a.m. tomorrow for the north and east bay valleys. bundle up first thing in the morning. those numbers will drop, at least in this criteria, this warning area into the mid 30s. so you will see some frost. so here's a look at those temperatures. 35 in napa 36 in santa rosa dropping to 35 degrees in livermore. the cloud cover will come in. the rain moves in in the morning tomorrow afternoon. hang on to the umbrellas. 40 to 60s. let's start with the storm impact scale. so it is a moderate strength storm. a level two rain, brief downpours, gusty winds, possibility of thunder and certainly flooding is possible as we do have streams and creeks that have reached bankfull and now more rain is going to fall on top of that. so 8:00 when you head out the door, be prepared for a slower ride. the rain moves in. it is light to moderate but widespread at 10 a.

east. bay 32 at livermore 33, concord south bay. lows 32 at morgan hillnd even right around the bay shoreline. from fremont to san mateo to oakland. lows will drop into the 30s. only san francisco and half moon bay are not likely to have lows below 40 degrees. highs tomorrow not above 56 degrees anywhere, except maybe down in the south bay, where san jose may top out at a balmy 58 degrees. so here's the forecast into motion animation. that first storm starts to push into the bay area late tomorrow night and then into wednesday. it will bring rain and perhaps even some snow to the higher bay area peaks. then a stronger storm begins to push in late wednesday night, but it will be mainly a thursday event, producing strong, gusty wind, heavy downpours, lots of snow in the sierra and then we get maybe a little bit of a break going into saturday, hoping for dry conditions for the chinese new year parade, which will be seen right here on abc seven. here's the accuweather seven day forecast, and i'll just back out of the way. level one storm on wednesday. level t

bay and along some of the coastal mountains. but notice how the interior valleys santa clara valley heading down to morgan hill, inland east bay and north bay valleys. with that freeze warning through 9 a.m. tomorrow morning. so it's round three of this with frosty conditions, ice on the windshields. we're going to have this again for tomorrow morning, but maybe not so much by tuesday and wednesday. highs tomorrow with mostly sunny skies, mid 50s from san francisco to oakland. upper 50s likely around san jose and probably a few upper 50s around the north bay as well. but notice some of the changes now as we go into tuesday. you got more clouds and then as we head towards tuesday evening. now, if you look offshore here, we begin to see a chance of some drizzle here approaching the coast leading us into tuesday night and wednesday when the first round of rain comes in. not a lot, as you can see in the color coding here, expectations are generally about a third of an inch of rain or less. but this is a cold pattern, which is kind of interesting. we could see snow levels at times, maybe down into the higher peaks there. the north bay,

north and east bay valleys, south bay valleys and hills.n we have a freeze warning for solano county. it's going to be cold enough, temperatures dropping slightly below freezing. coldest locations 30 in santa rosa 32 degrees livermore, 31 in fairfield, 32 napa, upper 20s to our north. and you will notice it's going to be chilly with a few clouds around tomorrow afternoon. it is a cloudier sky. temperatures will be in the 50s. now, as we look ahead to what's coming our way, rain moves in late tomorrow night though, it's 11 p.m. that it's barely touching the coastline, san francisco, the peninsula, and it switches over to snow over mount hamilton as we head towards wednesday morning. scattered showers continue, but this is a quick mover. 4 to 6 a.m. and then here comes 9 a.m. a few more showers, and then this system starts to basically go down towards southern california. and then another storm develops. so rainfall totals with this is going to measure anywhere from nothing to about a half an inch in ben lomond. and the winds are going to com

precipitation, at least the heaviest, will be due east of the bay area, affecting the east bay and the altamont pass, also across san jose into morgan hill and gilroy. but then watch what happens. lunchtime again. pockets of heavy precipitation. again, you could see a thunderstorm embedded in these cells. and then another line slices through the bay area. 4:00 in the afternoon. you think we're done? no, 8:00 tomorrow night. just about this time. more precipitation, sometimes heavy rain, sometimes gusty wind. but by friday afternoon, all is said and done. and when it is, we're talking about up to six inches of rain, perhaps even seven inches in throughout the santa cruz mountains, anywhere around the san mateo coastline all the way into the north bay will be adversely affected. but what's so ominous about all this? everybody is approaching nearly two full inches of rain, so you will have ponding on the roadways. your morning commute will be affected. it's going to be a challenge to get around tomorrow morning, and we will definitely see a rise on our creeks and our streams. high wind warning is in effect, as well as a wind advisory with t

bay. and also you can see those eastern santa clara hills and that frost advisory for the entire east bay, a good portion of the peninsula. and then you can see the surrounding areas there in the north bay. so the freeze warning means we could get to 32 or below the frost advisory general. generally we're talking about, you know, between about 32 35 degrees. so this is what i'm looking out for tonight. it is frigid tonight. so take a moment to just take this in 30's pretty much across the bay area with the exception of san francisco in half moon bay, which barely make it to 40 degrees. so be ready for this tonight. make sure anyone that is vulnerable to the cold has some place to be tonight and over the next few nights because you can see is these inland valleys are going to stay in those 30's. those low 30's for the next 4 nights by tuesday of next week. we will start to see a pick up a little bit and we are going to have a pattern change. this is the weekend. we're looking good right into monday. and now going to take you into next week. and by wednesday, we've got another system rolling
