it is the largest on the east coast.produces about 330,000 barrels per day, which is more than 150 million gallons per month of refined gasoline jet fuel and other products. despite repeated requests, the refinery to give us update on exactly the status and current output, we have not gotten that. at its full capacity, the refinery, which by the way is actually two large refineries sort of connected in one, is a 27% of the mid-atlantic's gasoline output. we don't exactly know how much refinery -- the refinery is still operating but just how much we do not know. each refinery is about 13.5%, 27% of the region's gasoline output in total. obviously we'll be trying to figure out the real impact not only on the price of gasoline but on all the impact of the infrastructure here on the east coast. the other angle here, guys, is also what happens with the ownership structure. this is a refinery that is owned unlike any other in the united states it is not owned by an oil and gas company. it is owned by four different companies,

it's 5:31 on the east coast. thank you for being with us. brian sullivan we have breaking news this morning on a story we've been following for you for days reuters reporting that that massive philadelphia refinery which exploded on friday may never reopen as we showed you on monday, key parts of thecomplex were completely destroyed in the blast. the refinery may not have the money to reopen. reuters reporting that there's concern about the long-term physical stability of some other key components this is the largest refinery on the east coast it is the oldest operating refinery in the nation it supplies 27% of regional gasoline, jet fuel and supplies. any shutdown could cost hundreds of jobs and squeeze gasoline supplies in the busiest and most densely populated area in america. the refinery and the company, energysolutions, could still change their plans, but they're expected to begin layoffs of 700 union workers as early as today. gasoline futures are up 3% on that news. keep an eye on pbf, which is a new jersey-based company is expected

severe storms are expected today from texas to the east coast.eral tornadoes cut a path of destruction through indiana and oklahoma saturday. another twister ripped the roof off a high school near indianapolis. meteorologist jeff berardelli is here with more. so jeff, what are you seeing? >> elaine, it has been an extremely active 24 hours. you see the red dots, 20 reports of tornadoes in the past 24 hours. but that's not all. wind damages reports 120 reports of winds up to 85, 90 miles an hour in some areas. all right, so the threat is not over yet. we will see more showers and storms from the ohio valley, especially a bull's eye in texas around waco and austin. and overnight tonight, you may wake up to thunder in washington d.c. the other big story, baking in california, some spots 100 to 110 degrees, especially in the valleys. the worst of it is probably wednesday, we could break some records. now as we look ahead, through the week into next week, heavy rain is the threat. once again, the relentless rain continues in the eastern half of the co
