people on the east coast experiencing the storm right now. speak of it is a humbling profession because as much as we can tell you, we have a good idea where the track will go and the timing. these storms have a mind of their own. they can do what they want. tropical meteorology so we give it that column that the uncertainty and we always tell you we can't give you the exact time or location with the center will make landfall. it caught us off guard 8:30 was the landfall. we were expecting overnight hours and it was a category three in fact cohen so the forecast was great but it did make that two were eastward a little bit faster than we predicted that the result still the same. we still have incredible storm surge and we will see tornado damage. that would be for me that they surprise but this hurricane. we always talk about the storm surge, the heavy rainfall, hurricane-force winds we talk about the tornado risk. however, this was insane! 126 tornado warnings and this will probably in terms of how many tornadoes we got from landfall hurrica

still, it's the east coast especially this morning we'll to watch for the potential of flooding. it was incredible flooding from the west coast into the overnight hours. we saw really impressive rainfall amounts happening in places like st. petersburg, where in a 1-hour window we received 5 inches of rain. that is a 1 in 1,000-year event kind of rainfall. and you can see over 18 inches in just a 24-hour period. so a flash flooding emergency was ongoing for folks there. that has since expired, but we still have flash flooding concerns across the region. notice clear water beach 14 inches of rain. the flooding concern the waters are likely still receding as we go through the last couple of hours and get through the morning hours. winds have weakened on the west coast, but on the east coast we've still got daytona beach, 83 miles per hour. notice some of the highest wind gusts that we've seen 105 miles per hour. we saw sarasota, 102 miles per hour. but, unfortunately, the gauge broke. that was into the evening hours last night. we're not going to get another reading there, and it lik

this is the east coast. the store made landfall on the west coast of florida and that exactly where we have seen that flash flooding, storm surges in places like sarasota and orlando. my colleague sarah smith have been looking at the impact in orlando. here is her report. >> a deadly tornado ripped through st. lucie county, many miles from where the worst of the storm was expected to hit. this utterly mangled metal structure trapped in the county sheriff's vehicles inside, hampering the response. there were over 100 twisters spawned by hurricane milton that tore up and done parts of florida, further spreading the damage. but as bad as it looks, the state was prepared for worse. >> the storm was significant but thankfully this was not the worst case scenario. the storm didn't weaken before landfall and the storm surge as initially reported has not been as significant overall. >> in tampa, police body cam footage shows the operation to rescue 15 people including children after a tree crashed into this house. in

moderate and major flood stage not just on the west coast where milton made landfall, will also on the east coast because the watershed again needs to find somewhere to put 20 inches of rain. so we still have rivers that are going to be slow to fall on the west coast. you can see not really fallen going into monday, so still a problem through the weekend. and then rivers again on the east coast continuing to rise. you can see the rivers here getting above major flood stage stage and still rising even through wednesday of next week. so that will continue to be a problem. there's some light showers on radar for parts of south florida. will have some spotty showers as we go through the day today. again, a lot of it pretty light and a lot of it focused on the miami fort lauderdale area. we're looking at maybe an inch or two of accumulation and and not for the bigger storm zone. so that's at least some good news for them there. another thing that has been incredible to watch come through, or these tornado surveys, we had three ef-3 tornadoes from milton one that was wong track, 21 miles on the ground.
