the midwest and the east coast got slammed with a brutal snowstorm. here in l.awas sunny and 80 degrees celsius, by the way. crazy, right? that we're in the same country? if you're visiting, it's not always 80 degrees and sunny. at night, the sun disappears, sometimes for hours. and the temperature drops. sometimes we have winds from the southwest at 4 miles an hour. it can get terrible. [ laughter ] i'm sure the earth will eventually swallow us whole but until then, i tell you, i'll keep rollerblading to work with my shirt off and enjoying it. almost a foot and a half of snow fell on minneapolis over the weekend. the vikings were supposed to play the giants. the plan hit a snag when the roof actually caved in from the weight of the snow. rarely do you see the weather affect a game in a dome. but look at that. it spilled all over. that's why my mother said never build your stadium roof out of plastic wrap. the heaviest activity continues to press on to the east and that's when we'll see this move into the sierra nevada. we are seeing a rain/snow mix but l.arport it switched to light snow. if you have plans to go up there, you have to delay them because a heavy wet snow and winter storm warning through tomorrow. 55 mountain view so still pretty mild out there. the steady rain this morning, showers this afternoon, on and off rain all week long. an area of low pressure to the north continues to pump in this stream of moisture. the emphasis shifting a little further to the south. here's the low in the gulf of alaska and that's pulling in that wet plume that extends all the way back into hawaii and beyond. so we'll see minor fluctuations with this stream of moisture from the bay area right over us right now and then it's going to shift a little further south. here we are throughout the rest of the morning hours. 11:00 still rainy out there but a little bit lighter rain. by 3:00, more widespread showers, a bit of a break out there towards the evening hour. some light rain overnight. the morning commute not looking too bad with a few light show
