the first prong is the short term funding for supplemental services that the school districts in east san joset afford. the much more important prong is the long term funding solution that the state of california must address so that the students in east san jose can thrive, that they can become the workforce of silicon valley, and that we can secure an economically mobile future for them. damian: because right now, we're not guaranteeing that, right? right now by what we're offering our children, we're guaranteeing that we're going to need to import the brain power and the people power to do what needs to be done in silicon valley. dr. andrew: absolutely, absolutely. so here's what happens damian, the students in east san jose, get a per pupil funding per year from the state. so a student say in the mount pleasant school district, because of their zip code, they would get about $11,000 per year per student. there are other students in other zip codes of santa clara county where their district gets $24,000 per year for them. so the students don't even start out with an equal playing field. the

and so we're looking at our highs for this afternoon headed for the low 60s, east san jose, we'll see3 degrees and a lot of upper 50s and low 60s for the east bay, martinez, up to 62 degrees. 59 in redwood city and 57 in daly city. san francisco in the upper 50s today, and our north bay temperatures up to 62 in sonoma and napa. we do still have a very active storm pattern out there, although we see the break here now, take a look at this long line of clouds. this is exactly what we talk about when we say an atmospheric river. it's basically a tube of moisture streaming across the pacific, and it brings in a lot of rainfall. it connects with that deep subtropical moisture over hawaii and just brings it right our way. we're going to start to see that rain coming in for the north bay tomorrow morning. by 11:00, basically all of us are seeing some rain, and it may be heavy in a few spots. it begins to taper off tomorrow evening and then into thursday. there's still lingering spotty showers, but we will get another brief break. so this next round of rain coming in will bring us about a hal

librarians and coaches walked off the job this morning at 23 campuses, including san francisco state, cal state, east bay and san josetate. this is a five day strike. it's the first ever faculty strike at all of the campuses at the same time, they're demanding a 12% wage increase and other benefits. >> as we've been fighting for a long time to bring our pay up to a decent level. our lowest paid people are making less than 60,000 a year. the realities are the university is making massive cuts. they've cut many classes on our campus for this spring already. they're increasing tuition by 30% over the next couple of years. right? so we're already behind the eight ball csu issued a statement about the strike, saying in part, quote, that talks are going, but it would not discuss any details of the communications. >> it also said classes have not been canceled during the strike. >> new at noon, vice president kamala harris is holding an event right now to mark 51 years since the supreme court's roe versus wade decision, which established a constitutional right to abortion. since then, almost two years ago, the supreme court

east of the bay. a lot of us are still looking at some heavy stuff. this is san jose, one of those areas that really rolling through, you can see it's still pretty wet and rainy down there. we've had a lot of offshore lightning. thankfully, most of that lightning has not been on shore. we did have some around morgan hill and gilroy just moments ago for the bay itself. things are calming down. you can see some light to moderate showers. definitely still covering us from the north bay peninsula into the east bay. while the south bay is definitely still looking at our heaviest stuff, especially from san jose. as you head south for morgan hill down to gioy too. that's where we have that thunderstorm earlier on. a lot of that energy is shifting now out towards the hills, the central coast and out to the central valley. so we're on the tail end of it. now and really by 09:00am most of us are out of the heavy stuff. not to say it won't wet rest of the day drizzly, misty conditions and just kind of overcast throughout the remainder of your wednesday. current temperatures are

daily city, parts of 280 getting slick road action as well as parts of this area and the east foothills of san jose let's get you hour-by-hour details of the heavier part of the storm is that set to arrive. san francisco seeing the heavy of the rain. everybody else is hit or miss as we make into the oest cocoa county and some rain light right now starting in the south bay. but as we take it into the overnight hours, the wind is going to start to howl. the storm is going to start to come down on us. it won't stay with us through the morning commute. so now is a chance to kind of figure out your plans for what you're going to do for school and for work. we're going to paint on some more rain totals in addition to what we've already gathereded. two, three inches. as we take it on this model to tuesday morning, we're looking at those rain totals about an inch to two more on top of what we've seen. that's why we have a flood watch in effect through the north bay. we're going to wash the river and that minor flood stage early monday morning with a possibility of seeing some shallow landslides. so rocks a
