. >> reporter: from massachusetts to texas and california, first responders are making their way to the region. >> hopefully the folks there on the east coast are going to get out of harms way. >> reporter: many towns have already instituted at the tory evacuation orders. one model suggests that some areas could get as much as -- instituted mandatory evacuations. >>> mary has been tracking the storm. it looks like a lot of people are preparing for this but it could be devastating. >> this is a dangerous storm. still a monster, category 4, hurricane. here is the latest satellite imagery. it's in the atlantic. is packing winds of about 130 miles per hour. gust up to 160 miles per hour. moving west northwest at 70 miles per hour. there is the projected tract -- path. a major storm as it hits the carolina coast late thursday night into early friday. really, the big impact will be flooding. that is a big concern. also storm surges. the ocean level will rise as much as 10 feet. there could be significant inland fight -- letting. they could see anywhere from 10- 20 inches of rain by saturday. we will talk about our weather at home coming up.
