eastbound on the bay bridge, eastbound toward oakland from san francisco.t's closest to the oakland side. you can see all the lanes are closed and chp is looking for a suspect and a victim. that's all we know for sure. we don't know what's going on here. traffic is completely stopped. i've seen a lot of police activity. we have a crew it's way and this is also affecting westbound traffic even though westbound lanes are open. chp issued a sigalert, meaning they expect this to be there for a while and people are beginning to stack up on the way from san francisco to oakland. the eastbound bay bridge is shut down. if you're trying to get across from the east bay, the best way is go to the san mateo bridge, or through marin county and use the richmond bridge. right now i would not recommend using the bay bridge. perhaps you want to use bart to get to the east bay. it may affect westbound commute, as well. we'll keep an eye on that for you. and i want to look at the toll plaza, lanes are beginning to back up. you can see these lanes are beginning to slow down to

>> reporter: well frank, the good news is now that crews have reopened i-80 and the eastbound lanes. take a look at this. no bumper to bumper traffic out here now, but things can change very quickly. within the last 10 minutes, we have seen crews move the chain control point further. making its way up the mountain now. roads out here for the most part, pretty clear. we're not seeing snow at this elevation, but they are wet. that means they are slick. now, like i mentioned, cocaine controls are in place. if you take a look here behind me, you can see a number of drivers pulled offer to the side of the interstate. putting the chains on now, because there is a chain control checkpoint a little further up. now chp telling us, one of the best things to keep in mind, to make sure that the chains are fitted for your tires, if you're going to be headed out here. if you are going to be heading back, make sure you have chains that fit on your tire. if your chains are too small for your tires. now at this point, like i said, conditions can change quickly. the snow has tapered off. the traffic i

the eastbound off-ramp is closed for 15 years now. this re-establishes the eastbound ramp in the configuration on the screen. if you are coming from san francisco to oakland, you will exit right and go underneath and have a grade separation with south gate road coming from the left side of your screen. then you will go under the actual ramp and tie in underneath the bay bridge to the north gate road intersection. it is tight right there. stay tuned for more updates in that regard. the other thing important to recognize is traffic coming from treasure island and ybi. basically, it will exit the island via this system. you will come uphill crest to south gate road to ybi or to get to the newest bound onramp. also, the existing onramp is still in operation there. we will also have a bicycle pedestrian path that will take a 180-degree turn and go under the ramp structures and tie in with the bike path. a lot going on there in terms of movement. we feel very good where we stand in terms of ready for construction. the other project that we
