a lot of that is now on the eastern shore. they're getting some of that heavy rain, thunder and lightning, but around the metro area, thankfully, a lot of lightning has stopped, and so has the rain right around washington and the suburbs. but farther north, getting heavy downpours, creeks and streams out of their banks in parts of frederick county. they've already had three or four inches of rain there overnight. more showers and thunder showers west and southwest of washington, faulkier county, rappahannock and culpeper and the panhandle of west virginia still getting moderate downpours, but most of the lightning has ended. and things are down into the 70s temperaturewise. beautiful morning that way, but it's still very humid, and thankfully today cooler temperatures. high only in the upper 80s. that's about the average high. but a likelihood of scattered storms off and on between now and noontime, but probably not severe, and just a smaller chance of an additional shower or thunder shower by mid to late afternoon. a look at
