another busy weather day moving into western arkansas and parts of eastern texas. all is quiet for today. and really for tomorrow as well. our clouds that were around early this morning are now leaving us alone. we'll be left with plenty of sunshine today, low to mid-80s this afternoon, another quiet, mild night tonight. the weather front will eventually make a little run at us. maybe some showers in the mountains of west virginia late monday but i think here in washington our chances for rain hold off until late tuesday and then scattered shower possibilities on wednesday. even that's not a guarantee, though. today, though, no problems at all. outside of a bad pollen count, temperature will reach up into the low 80s. tomorrow, flirting with reports. the record at national airport is 92 tomorrow. i don't think we have the stuff to get all watt way to the record tomorrow. dulles might be able to get it the seven-day forecast. two 80s, 70s, and typical weather and then maybe next weekend, people don't want rain on the weekend, but maybe next weekend a better chance f

arkansas. that is a developing area of low pressure. now, we have a couple graphics for you. by tomorrow, the low that's over the great lakes will be up over eastern canada. with that counterclockwise rotation, it is going to grab chilly air from over the eastern hudson bay james bay area and start to funnel it over the great lakes and towards the mid atlantic. by sunday, that chilly air is going to be in place in the low forming down near the gulf is going to be running along the stalled cold front pulled by the big low up over eastern canada. and we are going to get a chunk of rain. of course wjz drought watch continues to monitor rainfall totals. but if what's being printed by the computer as far as moisture is connect, by monday wjz continuing to watch rainfall totals and monitor the drought we will be all over but the shouting. looks like it's going to be real wet. how much so and how chilly it's going to get? meteorologist tim williams with the details coming up in the first warning weather segment. now back i been side -- inside. >> thanks very much. we know who will be maryland's next state school superintendent. state board of education a

characterize arkansas at this time in terms of union loyalties, southern loyalties at the beginning of the war. >> okay. well, at the beginning of the war you could kind of generalize by saying that the easternd southern parts of the state -- which was where where the larger plantations were located -- were in favor of secession while the uplands, the mountainous regions were not as much so. when the, when the secession convention was announced, the delegates that were sent, the majority of the delegates were actually pro-union in their sympathies. and the initial convention recessed without coming to a, coming to a conclusion, you know, without voting for secession. they voted to come back, come back in, i believe, in august of '61 unless something came up in the meantime. well, fort sumter happened in the meantime which led them to come back and, ultimately, the issue for a lot of them was coercion. if the north was going to try to coerce the seceded states back into the union, then arkansas would not support that, and that's what, that's what happened. >> you hear lots of stories, um, about brother fighting brother, um, you know, in the civil war. were there instances you found where fami
