baltimore area. heaviest rain is always by orange and red. you see that is stretching from the eastern to annapolis. we have heavy rain in the western part of baltimore county west of towson and cockeysville. if you are watching there, that rain is going to come down at least an inch an hour the next 15 to 20 minutes. the winds are not terrible yet around baltimore, up to 20 to 25 miles an hour. but the strongest part of the storm will be this afternoon and this evening. winds still pretty strong over the open waters of the bay and beaches but the worst part for baltimore as far as the winds will be this evening. we will look at the seven-day forecast and let you know when this will go away. >> jayne miller is checking out conditions at fells point and filed this report. >> just a steady rain here but this is a community that is well prepared for what may come later as the storm moves closer. the streets are virtually empty because officials said get your cars out of here especially along the streets near the water. this is payne street. another feature is sandbags against the doors an

heavy rain off the eastern shore counties represented by the orange and red, a little rain around baltimore. the best chance for rain today is in the eastern shore counties, breezy with temperatures in the low 60's. the worst part of the storm will be on monday night. remember that. heavy rain coming in monday afternoon, monday night will be the worst part of the storm with winds between 30 and 50 miles per hour. on tuesday, it will turn much colder with temperatures in the 40's and there might be snow in the mountains. i'm going to go over all of that in detail when i return but first we will send it to jennifer franciotti in fells point. this is not the worst-case scenario for maryland. we don't expect it to come churning up the bay and there shouldn't be a big storm surge in fells point. it's good to prepare but i don't think it will be the worst-case scenario for us. >> folks here aren't taking chances. they've learned that preparedness is key and there are sand piles in this area so folks can fill them up with sand bags and try to help. bill is here to help out a neighbor. >> she's a w

as a result coastal flood advisories for eastern hartford. southeast baltimore if you live along the tidal waters in those areas, enhanced high tides all of us will face the possibility of scattered showers, especially after the next two or three hours. we start to see a couple of scattered showers and then the mainline of rain which is now back through west virginia and western pennsylvania will start to push in toward the midnight hour. it's a fairly slow moving line. we push in to the early part of the day tomorrow. you can see hit and miss showers, lasting through early tomorrow morning. cooler air poised to move in. for the next 24 to 36 hours the warm sir flow out of the south. that warm air out of the south making for a -- a warm situation tonight despite the rain showers action that will come in as a result of that system to the north. tonight 55, scattered source, cool, cloudy and breezy. tomorrow we get rid of the clouds through the day. 74 the two degree guarantee, on a breezy day. by tomorrow night cool -- the winds start to turn northwest. north win

eastern shore. a 33 mile-per-hour wind gust at ocean city. we are picking up rain on h.d. topler in baltimore but on the eastern shore it's raining hard. this is one of the outer bands from the hurricane. the eastern shore will see heavy rain the next hour or two. the storm itself is deepening, getting stronger. the latest satellite imagery shows banding features to, it wraparound motion there and sustained winds are 75 miles per hour so it's still a category one hurricane. it's moving to the northeast at 13 miles per hour and that motion is very important. we want it to stay on that direct course at least for the next 24 to 36 hours because then it will get us past the mouth of the chesapeake bay so here's one of the computer models i grey -- agree with as far as the track goes. the time frame takes us into monday morning. at 9:00 a.m. monday, the computer model has it 200 miles off the coast of ocean city and that's good. three, four days ago, a lot of models were churning it up the bay so hopefully this will hold and will go past the mouth of with thepeake bay storm and that means it won't

baltimore. we have 80s on the eastern shore. warm air has moved in from the south. here are the visibility reports, 10-miles to the horizon. we don't have that. we have 20% of normal in baltimore, york. in dulles less than a mile. declining visibility as you go west into the high country. some dense fog possible. still patchy fog lingering potentially into the early morning, so watching out for. that other than that a misty evening. the main wave of rain has pushed to the east. the main storm system, although it seen the first wave through, it's in the upper midwest, so we're not done with this slow moving east coast storm system that still could bring showers, maybe thunderstorms into the day tomorrow, a couple different frontal boundaries. the warm front. there will be fog around that. then the cool front tries to knock the warm air out. as it does that, that could spark a few showers. drier air moves in as we move into the day on friday. a fresh cold front will come in and really drop temperatures. this new wave looking more ominous with a 70% chance of becoming a

moving up to randallstown, in western baltimore county, the one eastern to go out. at 6:30 p.m., a tornado warning was issued. it was rolling right to the cockies area. 6:37 p.m., it gradually weakened across northwestern hertford county as a move into pennsylvania. we're left now with the lingering effect of those showers. additional severe warnings were issued in parts of pennsylvania, eastern pennsylvania. we're now seeing the last little bit of char's crossing the maryland-delaware line and move it -- bit of showers crossing the maryland-delaware line and moving out. you can see the yellow, a solid 2 inches to 3 inches in a short amount of time. that brings the monthly total to two 0.25 inches and we're closer to 7 inches for the year. hitting 76 degrees, that is a warm october day this time of year the record is only 82 degrees. that primed the atmosphere for those storms to blossom. 40's and low-50's in chicago and iowa. we were almost 280 degrees here in the mid-atlantic. that cool air is beginning to invade western maryland. frost bird is down to 42 degrees.
