going to bring strong winds, strong rains and effects are making themselves known in taiwan and eastern china. you can see the spinning cloud of this particular typhoon. plenty of rainfall falling in the philippines as it connects with the monsoonal front, but now it's starting to affect the southeastern portions of china. but this is not the strongest storm that the country has seen. we have to go to last week, where we were talking about rammasun. let's take a look at some video. this piece of video came out on saturday. and people in guangdong continued to clean up the debris left behind by the worst storm to hit the region in 40 years. rammasun slammed ashore late last week, killing 18, leaving over $2 billion in damage and a coastal port city, nearly 300 boats sunk or took damage while taking refuge from high waves. and at least 11,000 homes were destroyed or damaged in the extreme winds. typhoon rammasun also swept through the philippines last week, killing over 100, leaving thousands homeless. let's turn our focus back toward motmo now, and this is going to be something we'll be watchi

shows the storm passing right over taiwan, and moving across eastern china.and it will weaken a bit before turning to the northeast. the tropical atlantic watching a tropical depression, not much development here. conditions are pretty unfavorable towards the caribbean, but not much development is expected. the northwest seeing some rain even a few isolated thunderstorms, so some needed rain, but can do without the lightning. that's what started a few fires there over central washington. regular flag warnings in effected because the wind and lightning still a big threat to the current fires. but the moisture is welcome. some severe storms over the central portion of the count interest will continue, but getting a little break from the heat as the storms move south. still hot and humid across texas and oklahoma with excessive heat warnings and heat advisories in effect. temperatures climbing into the mid-to low 90s. there is that heat that will try to work its way up the east coast. but some relief from the heat here by tomorrow. >> dave warren thank you very

first, video out of eastern china where we have been seeing significant flooding. you see right off the bat here, we have showers coming down, flooding on the roads. this all occurred here on tuesday. the storms brought hail, high floodwaters, and firefighters had to rescue people stranded on a hillside here as well. the waters became too powerful to cross in one area. landslides and overturned vehicles were a common sight in some locations. and water logging continues to be a problem in some urban areas. so this is still going to be a problem as we look ahead into the forecast. additional 50 to 100 millimeters could occur across the river basin, some areas as much as 130 millimeters. that same low tracking to the east. that will bring some showers to western parts of japan. it is already been coming down actually. and let's look actually at the reported past 24 hour rain totals. look at that, nagasaki, 315 millimeters has occurred out here. even further to the north and mountains, 200 millimeters has been reported. it does look like over the course of next 24 hour

people in north eastern china are dealing with severe weather cond >> the typhoon slammed taiwan. now it is in northeast china. still packing gusts of 90 miles per hour, sustained winds of 65. and it has lost its pace. but still bringing lots of stormy conditions across these locations. it will be making its way toward the peninsula, combining with the frontal line that is stretching into the korean peninsula, making it a very potent low-pressure system. so we're more worried about the rainfall. 400 millimeters in localized areas in northkorea. about 230 millimeters into tonight. we actually have heavy rain warning in place in north western south korea which includes seoul so urban flooding will be at very high risk. you can see the heavy rain stretching into northern locations of japan into sboo the next 72 hours. it is likely to combine with this front, making its way to northern japan by, into the weekend. so a lot of heavy rain in store for us in hokkaido. as for now, the high-pressure system is dominating in these locations, bringing extreme heat to much of the country. yester

this is the typhoon across taiwan and into eastern china. this is about 20 to 30 inches of rain.d damage along the coast was the big problem as the storm tracked right over taiwan. it will continue to go over land and weaken, but will eventually move back towards the northern pacific. this is where the plane went down at 7:00 local time, so certainly thunderstorms could have been a big factor there. it was just that island there just west of the island. so that can be a big factor in that plane crash. here is the tropical atlantic, one tropical depression is really falling apart. not much expected from that. could be problems in the northwest today. here is rain coming into areas which have seen plenty of wildfires. a nice steady rain is welcome, but we're also seeing thunderstorms, and that could produce lightning, and that could start more fires and rains over areas which have already been burned that could lead to flooding. and that could be a big issue, despite the welcome rain, it's though lightning and heavy rain that could cause problems. >> dave warren thank you very much
