eastern time on this tuesday morning. and we're back with dramatic pictures of an accident that has happened just a short time ago. you're looking at the world trade center in lower manhattaninutes ago we're told that a plane, some reports are that it was a small commuter plane, crashed into the upper floors of one of the twin towers. you can see fire and flames or smoke billowing from that tower. there is a gaping hole on the north side of the building. that's the side you're seeing to the left-hand side of your screen right now. and other damage to the west side of that building which is to the right side of your screen. this, of course, happened just before the morning commute, before people were heading into their offices and while i'm sure some people were already at work, immediately there's speculation or cause for concern this is the world trade center that was the center of a terrorist bombing some years ago. so the questions have to be asked, was this purely an accident or could this have been an intentional act. either way, extensive damage has been done to this building. >> it also looks like there is smoke coming out of the east side of the building on that sh

manhattan. pope francis going to be traveling through central park again tomorrow. expected to arrive here in the big apple around 5:00 easternly o'donnell was on the hill for the pope's address this morning. kelly, you have spent a lot of time inside that chamber for state of the union addresses. where does this rank in terms of some of the other speeches that you've seen inside the capitol? >> well, they're always exciting and important, but this was truly a history-making day. and the mood and the atmosphere was off the charts. it really is a singular experience. i'm catholic, so it had a personal sort of overlay for me. but as a reporter it was fascinating to see how different this day was. sure, there were partisan issues that could have flared, but what we saw was a more restrained response. certainly lawmakers stood up for issues or moments or references that played to some of the things they believed in, but not in the kind of hardened way we've seen when the president is speaking or another world leader. there was a respectful tone, there was sort of a grown-up attitude. but also there was emotion, honest, real emoti

eastern time on this tuesday morning. and we're back with dramatic pictures of an accident that has happened just a short time ago. you're looking at the world trade center in lower manhattan where just a few minutes ago, we're told that a plane, some reports are that it was a small commuter plane, crashed into the upper floors of one of the twin towers. you can see fire and flames or smoke billowing from that tower. there's a gaping hole on the nort side of the building. that's the side you're seeing to the left-hand side of your screen right now. and other damage to the west side of that building, which is to the right saide of your screen. this, of course, happens just before the morning commute, before people were heading into their offices and while i'm sure some people were already at work, immediately, there is speculation or cause for concern this is the world trade center that was the center of a terrorist bombing some years ago. so the questions have to be asked, was this purely an accident or could this have been an intentional act? either way, extensive damage has been done to this building. >> also looks like there's smoke coming out of the east side of the bu

eastern, fed president dennis -- atlanta fed president dennis lockhart speaks on the u.s. economy. and at 2:00 p.m., the chinese president visits boeing. tom: a little moment of silence for those of you in manhattane it is, gridlock. will you be able to get home? -- will you be able to get home? surveillance single best chart right now. it is a common chart at an uncommon time. the nation has measured predictable growth. jon ferro is in the and they are debt right now, underlying tension as austria confronts per capita gdp mediocrity and refugees from the middle east at the same time. jon ferro, things changed in all of europe, in austria, and that changes the dialogue as they confront refugees and migrants. what have you observed in vienna? jon: number one, i look at that chart, i look at the per capita gdp in austria and it is still a wealthy country. as it flattens down, that is crucial. that means people are not getting much wealthier. when you look at the eurozone in its entirety, on a plummet rates very high. capita gdp is not growing. that fuels the anti-immigration policy for some of these parties, particularly in northern europe area that makes this issue over immigration that much more
