the air -- they say it could come close to north carolina and move up the eastern seaboard. life here in the bay area we are about to see some changes starting tomorrow >> another warm-up, gasia but it will be later in the week for wednesday and thursday but we are heading in that direction. right now not much in the way for warming out there and you can see the clouds and the shoreline. some fog pushing into the bay across san francisco heading out towards oakland. clouds will continue to be a factor later tonight and tomorrow morning. we have this coming out towards san jose already an increase in the fog. san jose is in the upper sixties. not a big change from yesterday. san francisco tops out at 63, livermore 74 and this is the direction we are heading. in wednesday the warmest location we see is in the mid- 90s. this was the weather pattern today. this area of low pressure is moving in from the north and by thursday the high-pressure returns but the inland spots back up into the upper '90s not expecting triple digits but 97 to mac 98 degrees and we will begin to cool th

it will continue to increase the wave activity along the eastern seaboard.ng to the west-northwest and the main impacts will be on the northernmost parts of the leeward islands. right on its tails we have this area of low pressure which could become fiona in the next couple of days. here's a look at earl's impact throughout the next 24 hours. again, the northernmost parts of the leeward islands will be dealing with heavy rainfall, perhaps 5 to 10 inches of rain. waves 12 to 20 feet. wind gusts anywhere from 60 to 100 miles per hour. earl will continue to strengthen and could become a major hurricane in the next couple of days. the center of earl will be just northeast of puerto rico by this evening and it will make a close approach to the u.s. mainland compared to danielle. perhaps by the outer banks as early as thursday night. bob, mike, back to you guys. >> all right, jeannette, thank you. >>> now the rest of today's weather. severe storms with the chance of tornados in nebraska, the dakotas and minnesota. a rainy day from new orleans to biloxi and mobile.

and it could threaten the eastern seaboard.s hurricane danielle weakened, earl grew into a category 2 storm with sustained wind of 100 miles per hour. a third potential storm is also forming behind them. the predicted track of earl could bring the hurricane to the east coast this week where high tides and rip currents have already arrived. saturday there were 250 water rescues at ocean city, maryland, alone. one person is missing and presumed drowned there. >> i think the water is very violent. i was out there swimminging and it threw me into the beach. i thought, wow, this is really dangerous. >> reporter: to the south a surf died after being found unconscious in an unsupervised area of cocoa beach, florida. rip tides cause 80% of all water rescues. this weekend officials warned swimmers about them, currents that can move the water as much as 8 feet per second. they are created when water gets trapped along the shoreline by strong waves until it escapes back to the sea like sand bars. >> i noticed it has been very rough the la
