and when the pacific cools and the atlantic warms, it opens especially the eastern seaboard of the united states up to major hurricane threats. we saw this in the 1950s. in the period 1954 through 1960, eight major hurricanes rammed the eseaboard. this year will be opposite of last year. had to development in the tropical at the timic, this year i expect more terms from africa, and we can see them well in advance, and when they get further and further west, the threat is just as great up the east coast as the gulf of mexico. in fact, to be blunt about it, the overall water temperatures look a little like they did in '05, '04, '08, except we have much warmer water near the east coast, a product of the cycle. we have been trying to get across to the people, it happened in the 1950ser and we're back there again. >> neil: the severity of the hurricanes would be more caliber dangerous storms or what? >> well, they'd be able to hold their intensity further north. we're very fortunate, with irene, it spent so much time over land. as far as sandy, sandy came late in the year, but when you're talk
