and then the humidity in the eastern seaboard. just craziness. so let's show you what's going on. the country, this is very typical this time of the year. all the humidity and all the warmth and moisture comes off the gulf of mexico. that's the green shaded areas there. those are the dew point numbers. not the temperature. it's more of a representation of how much moisture is in the air. everyone in the eastern half is complaining about how humid it is. from dallas to chicago to the east coast, that's the case. humidity levels relatively low where you'd expect them to be. that's why it's harder to get those afternoon thunderstorms. yesterday was another hot day in phoenix at 112. notice it was hot pretty much everywhere from minneapolis to boston and everywhere in between. few exceptions like areas like seattle and san francisco. a little cooler there because of the water. you get the gist of it. now things are going to warm up. we're going to see a little bit of a surge in the heat heading into areas, especially southern california. 87 in l.a. downtown in the 90s tomorrow. and st

just east of that though especially on the eastern seaboard talking about new york city, washington, d.c., actually expecting clear skies over the weekend. and even temperatures continuing to warm up into the 30s. so things are going to get hot out here for your fourth of july weekend. farther towards the west isolated storms continuing to pop up across the rockies. we have one storm system moving out of montana. that's going to bring the risk of even some severe weather there into the dakotas here through friday afternoon extending through saturday as it pushes off to the east. winnipeg, 31 now. it will cool off with that front pushing by, chicago at 29. look down towards the south, atlanta, 27, miami getting up into the 30s, some afternoon thunderstorms expected for you. now, over towards europe, well, as we can take a look at the satellite picture, there is not too much going on here at all. but we are watching this hoop e high pressure come in from the west. much of western europe you have travel plans out here, you have any vacation time or if you just want to get out and enjoy

let's first talk about the flooding along the eastern seaboard. big upper-level low across the great lakes. today, philadelphia set an all-time maximum daily rainfall with around 8 inches of rain that fell during the day today causing flash flooding. now, there is some good news. the whole storm system is going to be lifting and most of the rain is going to be pushing offshore with the exception of the carolinas. the eastern part of south carolina, the eastern part of north carolina, still heavy downpour are likely during the day today, but the good news is the western part of the state is starting to dry out and there has been significant flooding in north carolina. now, let's switch gears and talk about floosy. flossy is approaching the hawaiian islands as we track. takes it near the big island of hawaii monday morning. and monday night right near oahu we're expecting winds around 60, 65 miles an hour. tropical storms are 100-foot fall split the bus in tour. the cause of the crash isn't clear. >>> and the driver of a spanish train last week is f

you can notice the eastern seaboard temperatures are predominantly in the '90s. we are dealing with a heat wave in the eastern part of our country. due to high temperatures and high humidity levels, he advisory issued for several counties along the east coast. with that, we will continue with this bubble of high air impacting all of the eastern states. quite a contrast to the bay area where we are waking up to cloudy conditions and temperatures in the '50s. we have some missed to deal with as well. 51 right now in daly city, upper 50s livermore. fog tracker 4 is showing just how stubborn the cloud cover will be today. into the afternoon hour, there the widespread cloud cover but starts to push back as we get closer to 1:00 p.m.. still very overcast for san francisco, even those of you and oakland and napa up. do not be surprised if you don't see sunshine whatsoever. today is expected to be the coolest day of the week.we will see the sun shine a little earlier in the south bay and a few spots will climb into the '80s. a few days on the board, upper '70's for concor

those seasons featured a lot of activity, trying to aim at the united states, up along the eastern seaboardan in '96. and other major storms, and in the month of june, the barometric pressures in the northern atlantic, east, west, across the atlantic, are very, very similar to the bare met trek pressures we're seeing this year, opposite of last year. last year we could not get any development in the deep tropics until sandy at the very end of the season. a lot of systems tried to developed in close and a lot in the atlantic basin where the pressures were very, very low during the month of june. so we look at past patterns, tie these things together, and we come up with sort of a flow chart as how the weather is going, and you look at what we saw in march that said, okay, look out in the southeast and even sea board. now we're seeing that pattern again and we have chantal. let me talk about that. the african wave train is getting active but this this appetizer. the main course is later in august and september. we have already noticed a certain type of pulsing in the atmosphere that is result

the lehigh valley, the eastern seaboard of our state, just north of philadelphia, cities like allentown, bethlehem, easton, those communities, they've used this funding to encourage private-sector investment. they made a decision in their community that we are not going to use these funds for foreclosure mitigation or housing, we're going to focus on job creation, focus on getting private-sector businesses to locate in the lehigh valley of pennsylvania. they made that decision, not us. they made that decision. some people in the house think that they should substitute their judgment for the people of the lehigh value in -- lehigh valley in pex. in lancaster and york county in the southern border of our state a portion of these grant funds were used to reduce blight and revitalize historic downts. they made -- downtowns. they made that decision and they've used these dollars for that. in none of these communities are saying these dollars shouldn't be safeguarded, shouldn't be spent and treated as precious taxpayer dollar resources, no one is saying they shouldn't be scrutinized. no one i
