this is never going to bother us on the eastern seaboard. we've got temperatures that are chilly, although not as cold as yesterday morning. north of boston, a lot of low 40s southern new hampshire. it's 48 in worcester. our coldest pockets have dropped into the upper 30s, not like the upper 20s like yesterday. it is a colder start for you on cape cod compared to yesterday upper 30s and lower 40s. cloud cover has been sliding on through, acting as a blanket. notice we're clearer along the cape, so the temperatures dropped a little bit more. high pressure is still in control. the cloud moved out this morning. it is back to bright sunshine and it's going to be another beautiful day. to the west there's a frontal boundary producing very scattered, light showers. there's snow flying on the backside of the low pressure. we are going to deal with a few rain showers as this thin out. should be a pretty sunrise. a sea breeze kicking in later in the day. we should sneak into the low 60s at the coast. interior sections, upper 60s for the merrimack val

coastline, the eastern seaboard for about five days.lmost anybody not safe from the north of miami all the way up to parts of new england will be watching this. you see center of the track, this is the best guess where it goes at this point. if it tracks farther to the west, much bigger impacts. if it stays 100 miles offshore, less impacts. tropical storm force winds, maybe hurricane force wind across northern florida into georgia and into the carolinas. we may or may not see a landfall for this. you get idea. we have a long time to go. if it makes landfall as major hurricane, then we have huge problems with the storm surge. if it just hugs this line, we have major problems with beach erosion and rain for pretty much everybody across the eastern seaboard. a lot of flooding certainly whether we have storm surge situation, remains to be seen if we get landfall. everybody on the eastern seaboard needs to watch it. melissa: wow. we'll keep an eye on it. thank you for that. >> you bet. >> with five weeks until election day a new cnn/orc poll

we are looking forward to it heading up the eastern seaboard as a category four storm with wind of 130-140. just off shore florida toward the carolinas, and then potentially up toward new england. anywhere in this large area is where we think this storm is going to go. it's a lot of real estate. it could pass south, overhead, or to the west, all offering different kin or showers from a nearby cold front. the orange line, heavy rain and wind. if it takes a track through the mid-atlantic, it would be a slightly weaker storm, but we would get plenty of rain and wind as well. we will have the latest track of the storm in the forecast for the rest of the week coming up. ed: the hurricane is leaving behind a mess in haiti. lots of people in massachusetts team coverage wit continues with rhondella richardson. rhondella: this is a community center for brockton's nearly 15,000 haitians that come to the store and are frantic to transfer money. it's where they put minutes on phone cards -- they just hope for a call. >> i haven't slept at all. i've been on the phone. rhondella: patricia and all he

there were lots of little mills like this throughout the eastern seaboard, and it was a very labor-intensive operation originally. millers had to have lots of ur grain into poo the mill and sift it out once it had been ground and pack it into barrels and so forth, and he came up with a way of automating almost all of that, using the same energy from the mill wheel that moved the millstones themselves, he used that same energy through various cause and wheels and chutes and ladders almost to automate the entire process. this allowed basically a mill to be run by a miller and one or maybe two assistants. so it saved a lot of money. made the mills much more efficient, and really made a big difference. we believe -- we are pretty sure that peirce mill had that oliver evans type system in it and has been restored now to have that system. once the mill had ground all of the grain into flour and it was packed into barrels, sometimes the barrels would be given to the farmer who brought them usually. this was a so-called custom mill, a small mill that served local farmers directly as opposed to some

unseasonable warmth into the eastern seaboard. in fact, we could be flirting with record high temperatures tomorrow and again on wednesday. the record high on tuesday is 82 from 1947. we're going to be close. this morning out the door, this is what i'm talking about. 50's and 60's. it is 57 right now in worcester. 60 up in the north shore beverly back to lawrence. lower 60's from marshfield to the cape. in boston, 64 degrees right now. average high this time of year is 61. so we're already above that this rn toward 2:00 this afternoon. we're in the lower 70's. it's going to be a very mild day. cloud cover, though, will be around. we've had the clouds overnight. they've been blanketing up. we have a west-southwesterly wind out there. that's why the temperatures are so mild. you can see how the clouds are dropping southward and there were a couple of sprinkles overnight. those, too, are shifting offshore right now with this frontal boundary that is pushing southward. the real warm temperatures are just south of this boundary, but on

louis, knoxville, nashville, that kind of air trying to climb the eastern seaboard. most of tonight, nowhere near as chilly as it has been. we will be near 60 degrees in town with a mostly cloudy sky. a spot shower or two. like winds for the most part tomorrow still a beautiful day. morning clouds. monday afternoon we have a cool front settling over the area. it tries to lift northward monday night and tuesday. along with that, scattered showers and then that warm front begins to gradually lift northward. we could make a run at record still very impressive storm. meanwhile we are watching this area. portions of this, some of the rain made climb up to the eastern seaboard with a separate frontal boundary. that is why i am going for rainfall on friday. until then, spotty showers. much of which will happen overnight. record highs possible tuesday, wednesday, still up near 80 degrees and slowly through that transition later in the week. that is my forecast. i'm it meteorologist a.j. burnett. >> now here is mike lynch with sportscenter 5, powered by xfinity. mike: hey, fo
