joining me now, chi fox news national correspondent ed henry. >> good to see you.is significant would be the numbers. the fact that a majority of the 217 house democrats are saying that they are in favor of some sort of impeachment inquiry. what comes next? it would be the house judiciary committee drafting articles of impeachment. what's interesting tonight is that there is a split among democrats. you have some democrats saying they want kind of a kitchen sink approach. they want to keep their base completely happy by having articles of impeachment about russia and the mueller probe, about hush payments to porn stars, and ukraine as well. there is another camp and it appears in sticker nancy pelosi might be leaning more in this direction that wants to keep it narrowly focused on ukraine because they believe they can move quicker on it and it would also keep some of the more moderate democrats who won swing districts, trump districts, in 2018, on board. look at the problem. two of those more moderate democrats, they didn't seem to know what they were for. watch. >

there was a lot there, and correspondent ed henry will help us break it down tonight. >> i've got some new information about a july phone call between the president of the united states and his ukrainian counterpart at the center of this controversy. detailing the democrats and pundits may be overreaching. senior officials familiar with the transcript of that call told me it is way overblown to suggest there was any threat at all to national security. top officials saying "the media better be careful with this. there is no there there. it's in the president's interest to put the transcript of the call out and show there was no quid pro quo." here's the timing, may 9th, "new york times" reports rudy giuliani is traveling to ukraine to push for a biden probe. the president says he would listen if a foreign government offered political dirt. fast-forward to july 25th, the president has that call with the ukrainian president. august 12, whistle-blower the federal government files a complaint saying he or she heard something that might threaten national security. august 21st, "the times" sa

joining us to first with more of democrats latest is our very own, ed henry. >> i spoke to a senior administration official. they are not just releasing the transcripts. they will be releasing other documents, including a look at what the inspector general at the intelligence committee found about the whistle-blower who started this whole thing, alleging some wrongdoing by the president. here's the key information. the inspector general found that the whistle-blower had "political bias" in favor of a rival candidate of president trump in 2020. now, this official did not have this specific information as to whether or not they whistle-blower. i do not have the name of the 2020 candidate. we are going to learn tomorrow and we are learning tonight for the first time here on hannity, is that the whistle-blower who has been held up as a truth teller, who is just sort of down the middle and just trying to lay out the facts as they see them about president trump, actually, as the inspector general did an investigation here to get at the root of whether or not any of the allegations against the president

the president talked about this in an interview with ed henry that aired on fox news this morning. >> we'll see what happens. a lot of things could happen if we could have a peaceful solution that's good, it's possible that won't happen. but there's never been a stronger country militarily, not even close. >> the president has also used language on twitter like the u.s. is locked and loaded, hallie, raising some of the concerns among many that the president might be prepared for some kind of strike. he's hinted at that in comments he's made to reporters as well. everyone understand that the president has often been quick to talk about the power of the u.s. as a deterrent and backed away interest that. only against syria has he acted with a military strike. there's real caution and concern. the president has backed away from his intentions to try to meet with iran's leader at the u.n. general assembly. this is a tense situation one where secretary pompeo is openly called it an act of war. the president has not gone quite that far. >> right. >> hallie? >> kelly o'donnell there at the wh
