[applause] mayor lee: thank you. should i stand up here, joe?ht. ok. thank you out, everybody. at it is my pleasure to be here, to share with you what it has been like for the first quarter, maybe a third of this year, but also to begin by telling you this is a very unique city. and i continue to be so enthralled by the wonderful people who live here, that work here, even though i finished the ninth of tin budget town hall meetings, numerous meetings with community-based agencies, inviting people who have not been there for years, as they tell me. i am hearing so many stories, stories about white people came to san francisco. and just -- about why people came to san francisco. and just so many stories about whether or not their dreams or conditions were fulfilled, or they are here working were living with their families or they are trying to conduct business here. it has been wonderful. a lot of people have been asking -- i really -- to i really enjoy it? the word " julyenjoy -- "enjoy" is a little strong. i set out on a commitment that i would

the other point that i would like to bring is mayor ed lee, he suspended share of mirkarimi on the new year's day, and a lot of people have called that a racist move. to support that, he would have never done it to a black. would he do it to a black on martin luther king day, to a two-person -- to a jew on rosh hashanah. every bit of this thing is very appalling. i know it is a hot potato that been has been passed down to you to cover up for the city officials who have brood this witch hunt so far. you have the power and authority to terminate it now. you do not need to wait for the rest. in view of all of the contradictions in the case. thank you very much. , being elected, by the voters of san francisco to be the sheriff, and i just want to say that ed lee also hired greg suhr as the chief of police in the middle of a corruption scandal or officers created perjury and all sorts of things. those are felonies. nothing was done by ed lee other than appointing greg suhr as the chief of police who was demoted to deputy chief. so there is a lot of issues going on pertaining to law enforcement, and i personally believe that it is a waste of money what is going on here. the man was elected by the people, and the people who are making these decisions why we are here are several. greg suhr, whom he appointed, brought the evidence to garscon, so think about ethics and that when you go forward. thank you. [applause] >> thank you, naomi. welcome, everybody, to this wonderful occasion.bout a year ago, supervisor avalos and i and a number of other hopeful departments and union leadership and community people gathered together at a playground to announce the beginning of an ordinance that we both worked very hard on. and we knew at that time that we were transitioning as a city to be less dependent upon just words of faith that we have been operating on for some number of years to real life transformation to see real faces like the people that are standing behind me, people whose lives are beginning to transform because they earned their way to a decent job on city projects. and we knew that the real secret is for us to transform ourselves as policymakers and program directors -- don't mind if i pause while these trains come in. that we wanted to have something to hold ourselves accountable to the goals that had been loftly crafted in this ordinance. so we went about the business to working together with the goals, with the trades, with the unions, with the training c

i did not know ed lee when he was appointed by gavin two years ago, but he proved himself to the tech community by keeping twitter in san francisco and passing the private company's stock option tax waiver, and this is while he was interim mayor. he announced back then his platform would be all about creating jobs, and guess what, the city of san francisco's employment rate is now outpacing that of the rest of the nation. that is a measurement that not many other cities can talk about. [applause] so, ed was born in seattle, when to bouduin college. [laughter] we never stop learning. bowdoin college. i had never said that were before. what is significant about ed is he sets an agenda and then stays on it. lots of politicians do not do that, they get distracted. ed lee is a friend of attack, creating jobs, and that will make the economic climate and life in san francisco a lot better. with that, i would like to turn over the mike so that it can discuss his top priorities and his first 100 days in office.
